Probably best for everyone to just execute them, or follow the 14th Amendment and put them to work.

"Section 1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime where of the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction."

Duly convicted. ;)

"It's not about being sympathetic to sex offenders, it's about doing what's best for the community"

This coming from a psychologist.

God forbid we show some humanity, some compassion for these people.

Or I guess, like everyone else, this Dr. believes that people who commit sex crimes are perfectly normal, with no emotional or mental disorders whatsoever. So therefore, conveniently, no one has to feel any compassion for them.

This country's people are making me sicker by the minute. Every single Floridian should be hanging their heads in shame.

It is scandulous the way sexual offenders are treated, especially the one's where the girlfriend lies on the man to create drama in his life or the daughter that wants the stepmom out of the picture by lying on the dad to break up the relationship. We are so quick to make every sexual offender named by the police as an offender, when we can't even imagine how many sex offender are not really offenders after all.

What a shame the way Broward treats people.

In a 2004 meta-analysis of predictors of sexual recidivism, Hanson & Morton-Bourgon report that only 13.7% of sex offenders repeat that offence after conviction.

In layman's terms, that means that once released from prison for sex offences, only 13.7% of convicts will commit another sex offense. This means that 86.3% of released offenders are being unfairly punished by these ridiculous laws.

Couple that statistic with this one: The Bureau of Justice Statistics (2004) reports that only 7% of sex offenses against children are by strangers. Therefore, if sex offenders are registered, parents can teach their children to stay away from the person.

It's too bad that people forget to look at the statistics and function off of the "gut reaction" to an issue.

mybella thinks that sex offenders don't deserve to live. Ok, let's hope that you still feel that way when someone you love gets convicted of a crime that makes him/her have to register as a sex offender, a crime such as sexting which teens do frequently these days. Or relieving themselves while on a long car trip when there's no rest room for miles, or having the misfortune of being intoxicated and dropping their pants on their front porch. All of these can get you on the sex offender list. Not sexual crimes of rape or even fondling but they're labeled as pervert. It CAN happen and does, all too often.

Jackie you need to get real. While personal I think the law will be over turned by the Supreme Court, why should I show any sex offender sympthay.Just FYI those that target children about 95 percent will do so again. A child who is molested is scarred for life. Maybe you should care more about the victims then the scum. The only way to protect the child is to keep these animals locked up for life. Considering all the evidence shows they will attack again. I guess that is okay with you. What another child raped. NO big deal right.

Unfortunately, you have hit the bullseye. I have very little empathy or sympathy for any of the sexual offenders who really do belong on the list but there are way too many listed as sex offenders who haven't done anything remotely predatory.

It's abuse of the system for these people to be on the list but, somehow, police and prosecutors need to show how tough they are on crime and the list gets packed with those who are guilty of nothing more than poor judgement at best.

I can't say I feel sorry for the real sexual offenders and predators that are on the list. My only problem with the fact that so many have to live under a bridge somewhere is that I don't see how that makes me or my kids and safer. Who's going to be watching their comings and goings while they live in such conditions? Clearly, they belong in an institution of some kind; maybe prison?

The article quoted "I'm living like an animal," Horne, 46, said last week. "I had it much better in prison."
And a later quote "It's not about being sympathetic to sex offenders. It's about doing what's best for the community,"

Well maybe this scum should have thought before hand and not did what they did to mostly young children. its the old story "Do the Crime Do the Time".

Perhaps now that BHO is shutting down Gitmo we can tkae them all there, even leaving some of the so called "Criminals" there to watch over them.
What is Best for the lawful community is isolating this scum and making sure they never harm innocent children/women again. Sorry but the records show there is a very LOW rehab rate for this scum .... Let them live like the animals they are !!

These laws do nothing but create problems. They offer no protection to potential victims. Their crimes don't have to be commited where they live. They can be commited anywhere, even in neigborhoods where they don't live!.

Why does the puritanical right make sex offenses more of a crime than murder ???? Even Kidnappers can live next door but not if it means sex.. How hipocritical. They call themselves Christians but don't have any compassion for others. Shame on them... A Felon loses his drivers license and right to be a citicen. Now Florida makes a moral issue a crime if they try to pick up their lives and move on. How sad we have become as a society.

Offenders all lie, bank on it..no one does eight years for nothing, bank on it, Horne got evicted from a house full of sex offenders, obviously Horne doesnt play well with others, Offenders living under a bridge have more oversight than the freak that lives down the street from you..a PO shows up everynight sometimes twice a night and takes a headcount..because the state knows, these are some pretty bad guys...Offenders never do the time the public feels is just, quit crying for these guys, "if they cant comply with residency restrictions, they get violated and go back to prison"...which is where we want them..For all you "woe to the offender" sympathizers, just remember one thing...these guys are where they are for one reason, they took any and all opportunities to abuse someone weaker than them for one reason..to "get off" ..try putting it in perspective sometime..

Your another one who would just as well see us set ourselves back fifty years..your obviously too young to remember when sexual crimes were treated like a dirty little secret and were rarely prosecuted, how do you think we got to where we are today?
These guys were free to roam around using kids or women as sexual vessels with little or no repercussions..they infected generation after generation and produced what we are dealing with today.
This ain't stealing hubcaps honey..these crimes have lifelong effects on people and sometimes produce another new population of offenders.
Left up to you we would throw the baby out with the bathwater..
You may not like how our society treats offenders and God knows we havent perfected the handling of this problem, but I for one, will be damned if we retreat in an opposite direction and start giving them more consideration, rights and priveledges than they gave their victims. As was done 20 years ago and before.

I love the way you gloss over the age of the child he raped and the fact that he was convicted. Why don't you take him to live in your neighborhood mayo. Maybe your house to play with your kids.

I think child rapists should be executed. That would solve the problem for everyone
