Sewers wrote: <quoted text> If we still owned the water lines,we could charge FT. Lauderdale for the use of lines. They do send water through the town. When they raised the water rates, we could have charged them for the use of the lines. Now we have no leverage. Even the Tm has stated this sale was a big mistake.Since no Ft.lauderdale sewer waste runs through LBTS, the sewer situation is a different story. Your logic is all wrong. We would have no bargaining power with FTL water if we still owned the water pipes unless we had another supplier of water available. If we raised the rates for their use of our pipes they wouldn't complain one bit. It would not cost them one red cent for the increase because that increase would be passed on to the LBS water consumers by FTL water department. Those water pipes in the ground with only one water supplier are are as worthless for negotiating purposes as the sewer lines burried in south LBS. Pompano could care less if we have a contract with LBS. However, the contract means everything to LBS.

expert opinion on billin wrote: <quoted text> Since the town is paying for the sewer study, do you believe the experts report will be in your favor which would be against the billing decisions the town made. Reminder, the town will be footing the bill for the sewer study. Burton and Ass. will not come up with a finding that will prove that the TM and commission erred in overcharging sewer rates. If so, his future services in this town will be history. He will say it was the right short time decision, and the action taken should be applauded. His findings will not embarrass the present administration, in any way. How he can achieve this magical wonder, and still lower the charges will be a mystery to me.

The way sewer rates are set up right now, whether LBTS has this contract with Pompano or not makes no difference whatsoever to anybody's sewer rates. Why does the contract between LBTS and Pompano mean everything or...anything to any taxpayer?

Why does the contract between LBTS and Pompano mean everything or...anything to any taxpayer? Most homeowners are very concerned with the contract LBS has with Pompano. We realize if Pompano lowere the sewage rates with their contract with LBS, our commission would pass that savings on to homeowners and the hotel owners. I dis-agree with your statement, "the contract with Pompano or not makes no difference whatsoever to anybody's sewer rates." Instead of "any bodys" I believe it makes no difference to motel owners, they can raise their rates the minute the next guest applies for a room.

Maybe I could raise rates, but I also like talking about getting ripped off by the town of LBTS when I am getting ripped off by the town of LBTS. So pretty soon everybody will know that something is rotten in the state of LBTS.

If motels could raise their rates the minute the next guest applies for a room the fomer Holiday Inn would have been renovated a long time ago and the parking lot would be full every night. Supply and demand do work in the motel industry. Less demand means lower room rates; more demand means higher room rates. Please tell me how higher sewer rates will increase demand for our motel rooms.

The administration wants to appear good to hotels. So here we have a resident who is smugly defending screwing of hotels but who in turn is getting screwed by administration, which is trying to claim being friendly towards hotels by spending residents' money. Kind of a funny arrangement we have in LBTS.

to much wrote: why don't you all put back your septic tanks and quit bally aching. palm club has no sewer rate to pay The septic tanks were to costly to maintain and the people marched on town hall at every meeting, complaining about the cost. The residents had to call the septic tank company every three or four years to have the tanks drained for $50.00. Now that we have sewers we don't have to pay to clean our tanks. I have saved about $600.00. Many have saved more than that.

I wounder if anyone did an analysis on the cost of building a new septic tank for each of the homes which changed over to the new sewer system? The new septic tanks are leak proof and pretty much self cleaning. Because the final price was double the projected, it leaves the question would we have been better off without the system which leaks and cost an crap load of money to maintain each year and all the years to come?

It was intended to be humorous to some and annoying to others. Perhaps Burton and associates will recommend the return of the septic tanks or even port a potties. If not, I will contact Wayne Hunzinga, he may be interested not only in removing our garbage wastes, but also body wastes. It appears the guy that solves the sewer treatment problems of the world, will be sitting no only on the John, but on a mountain of $1000.00 bills.

to Arthur sewer rate wrote: item on Tuesday nights consent agenda is sewer rate study Its to approve spending about 18k for the study. I bet Arthur has already done the work. The wording in the scope of work is interesting. They are to come back with projected costs based on "the maximum demand various classes of customers place on the system". Since we are a seasonal town, wounder how that's going to work out?
