the laxed "less goverment" states in the south show no testing, product safety reviews for imported products sometimes backfires

Sure is getting harder and harder to find quality products these days, everyone wants cheap and or disposable.

You're in good hands, don't forget! Oh, and the bespectacled gheko, he'll help, won't he? Or the oh-so cute duck? Insurance is only good if you don't need it. And if you do need it, they have 12 ways from Sunday to deny coverage. Good thing we have our elected representatives watching our backs, huh?

That's just bs on the part of the insurance company and then the bank forcing into foreclosure if can't insured. If our governments going to do anything, this is the kind of thing it should prevent, that c-rappy drywall should have not got past inspection in the first place. But thta's why people buy insurance. If insurance companies arenot going to insure anything, then what is the point of having insurance. Pathetic. I hope all these homeowners take class action against the insurance companies.

The builder is the one who chose to use the cheap drywall to make a bigger profit. The distributor knew (or should have known) that they were pushing a defective product. They are the only logical recourse for these homeowners. Since the manufacturer is in China, they just get to keep all the American dollars they made.
This is one of those rare times that a good attorney might not be so bad. I can see the "drywall chaser" slime ball attorney's now though, advertising all over TV. "Did you buy a house between 1800 and 2010? Does it have walls? You should have us sue for you so that we can take millions of $ in fees and you can get a sheet or two of good drywall!" |

NO NO NO... a building contractor has to purchase building supplies thru a building supplier. They pay wholesale and never did I ever hear of a contractor buying direct from a manufacturer. SO the attorney should go to the contractor who goes to the wholesaler who goes to the manufacturer. Yeah... it's whe wholesaler that will take it in the shorts but I'll bet they have Business Insurance that will cover it.
As usual FOLLOW THE MONEY! |

Thank you Dumya for getting the government out of the way of business!

Reality Is and Born in Chico are on the right track. At first, I thought the insurance company was the bully until I read the auto insurance analogy. This is a good example of the consequences of relying on China for our goods. Some company here in the states who bought heavily from the Chinese drywall manufacturer will ultimately be the entity that pays the price for this fiasco and/or all of us will pay the price when our already strapped tax dollars go to a fund to rescue these home owners. The company in China is untouchable. This is only the tip of the iceberg of the complications we will see in the future with goods manufactured in China where health, safety, and environmental regulations are relaxed. We cry about local regulations and embrace WalMart with all of its cheap goods from China and then act surprised when something likes this happens. Raise your hand if one of the first lessons you learned in life was: You Get What You Pay For.

As a former resident of the hurricane belt, here's what's going on. A) Try to find ANY drywall after Katrina, Charlie, and Wilma. They used what they could get! B) Insurance companies don't want to even be in the southeast, so any valid excuse to drop a policy is a gold mine.

Don't buy products from China. Seems like we have already learned this lesson a few thousand times.
But where can we buy "USA MADE" I for one would pay a bit more when I can find made in the USA on it but more and more it is harder to find, it burn me to read China, Mexico and even Viet Nam on the things I have to buy.

No fears Obama will save the day, we will be starting insurance reform for housing.
It's all the same damn race to the bottom. Chinese drywall, shopping at Walmart, and teabagging on the weekends. Way to go wingnuts.

Cheaper is better.
Sure, some of these folks have a little problem to deal with. But think of all the cool money somebody made by using a cheaper Chinese product! |
Wait til Walmart gets food "Made in China.! Yum yum! Yeah get rid of those burdensome public health regulations! Get the government out of the way! I'm moving to Nevada!
