Gee, wonder how Brightbill's close personal friends and Lebanon County GOP member Mike Long feels about this?
I think Long should public express disappointment at Brightbill's financial actions and distance himself as quickly as possible.

Yo Clayton, Long is Brightbill's brother-in-law.

Which is funnier: That Brightbill thinks he can buy Holden for $250? Or that he can?

What's funny is that a Republican can't raise money in a heavily Republican district.

I know Toni personally and she will make a five star Congresswoman. She is energetic, intelligent, honest and experienced. It is sad that she is not garnering the necessary support from the Republican Party. That is the type of thing that made me quit a leadership position with it and become and independent. What's the use of having a political party if yu are not going to fully support your members?

Silly gadfly, don't you know the LC GOP is simply there to service a few and supress others that disagree even the slightest with the Long Junta?
Support for Gilhooley fell on deaf ears because she can't win. The rats always know when to jump ship.
Gadfly: You must really be naive. The qualities of energetic, intelligent and honest are the LEAST among those sought by the Lebanon GOP stranglehold.

Hey Former GOP. The district covers Schuylkill, Dauphin and one or two other counties. Apparently the people in those counties aren't supporting her either. She lives in Dauphin County, which is larger than Lebanon County, so apparently she doesn't have too many buddies among the Dauphin GOP either.

And if I were in a Schuykill or Dauphin forum, I might have those remarks. That we are talking Lebanon makes it about Lebanon.
Please note that the Junta is VERY quick to point out the LCRC is there to promote endorsed candidates. Gilhooley is endorsed and yet has no support. do you not see a problem there?

Well; as an Independent I would say good luck to anyone trying to overthrow holden. the inside scoop on holden may have a few keys but nonetheless his political buddies that put him there in schuylkill county wont let him go that easy. He spent years as the schuylkill county sheriff and was thier puppet; then they put him in DC as thier puppet to get more money. Ever wonder why; schuylkill county government gets all that grant money and the money is not used for that purpose. cops in shops got over $600,000 but not one cop ever went undercover in a shop. holden gave J. Rich who is a heavy gambler with debts out his eyes and also owns reading anthratcite (coal) over $150 million dollars to build a coal to oil plant in St. clair Pa. but he never even broke ground. Holden gave millions to schuylkill county government to tear down houses, to build a train station hub,(neither of which ever got done) and tons more. That might be usefull for anybody running against him, but he has an ace in the hole; Its called corrupt politicians. he has the "pull" to stay there. Im sure he isnt the only politician like that. If you want to beat him you must run in all the districts/counties that you will serve and get facts like that above so you can say "I will not support any one county over the other, nor will I pledge my allegiance to any one political player or group; I am here for the people". Maybe that candidate might win!!!!!

Holden is popular across party lines. His popularity clearly isn't because Schuykill County bosses pull strings throughout Berks, Lebanon and Dauphin. That is a hoot. The money he brings back into all counties is admirable and that is why the vultures at the LCRC will continue to circle around the Gilhooley carcass without lifting finger one to help her out.

The issue isn't really Holden; it's really the local Republican Party. They either cannot or will not do what is necessary to win the seat back for Republicans.
But what makes this episode so outrageous is the fact that Faith Bender, as chairman of the LCRC, as done NOTHING to discipline a rogue Republican like Brightbill, despite her promises to bring reform to the local committee. Instead, she has chosen to follow in the incompetent footsteps of Joe McDonald and old Wolgemuth.
Lot more housecleaning is needed in the LCRC...

LCRC shake up

Ms Bender seems to just be a puppet for the Long's and McDonald's of this long since inept committee.
the big question is what happens when the other bonusgate shoe drops all around Lebanon County?

give me a break wrote: stop bagging on faith, she is a very decent young lady but most accounts who just started. Well, Faith now has a HUGE opportunity to change the public perception that she is a puppet for the Old Guard Republicans who don't give a rat's rear-end about rank-and-file Republicans. If Faith fails to rein in Brightbill on this, she will remove all doubt that she is a tool for Long, Brightbill, et al. It's her big chance; why don't you tell her not to blow it?

just curious wrote: what the heck would you intend for her to do? I expect Faith Bender to publicly reprimand Brightbill for giving money to Democrats and boot him off of the GOP committee. If Faith Bender fails to take a stand and discipline Brightbill for stabbing the GOP in the back while he is a sitting member of the county GOP, then she has NO credibility and deserves whatever grief she gets.

Why boot him off? Gilhooley is a joke of a candidate and after she gets beat by double digits for this lame effort, the good people of Lebanon still need representation. It's a simple gesture of good faith

It's a simple gesture of good faith Brightbill's actions have nothing to do with whether Gilhooley is a decent candidate; it has everything to do with where his loyalties lie. He is an elected Republican committeeman and he is expected to support the GOP team; there is a higher standard for committee members. Anything less than a dismissal from the GOP committee would just demonstrate how inept a leader Bender is.

well clayt wrote: what became of this anyway? right or wrong decision made? I don't think anyone has heard anything from Faith Bender. I've heard rumor that there was a general outcry amongst Republicans about Chip's actions and she made all sorts of promises about disciplining Brightbill but cyncis expect she will just give him a smack on the wrist. Her failure to do anything significant will only make her position as chairman of the LebCo GOP subject to challenge in two years. How's Mike Long gonna spin that?
