Teen dies after fall from waterfall

My heart goes out to the family of this young boy. I was there right after the tragedy took place,ive never felt so shaken up. my prayers go out to the family, and again may god be with you.

john was a great sweet guy

my deepest condolences go out to the family of john. my son was with the youth from santa fe springs, my son is deeply sadened by the tragedy. my son was showing us pictures on his camera phone and there was john on a log having big fun. if we can be of any help to the family at this time we will be happy too! i have asked first family church of whittier, ca to pray for the family and the group that was at the camp together.

my child was on the camping trip and it was a very misfortunat mishap and hearts and prayers go out to his mother, father and siblings along with friends and classmates.
they said they all liked him very well and was a nice guy, its sad to hear that someone so younge and talented has passed on.
we send out our condolences to the family.

I went to school with John. When we started middle school together we became close friends instantly. Wehn he left South Pas High our freshman year we still stayed in touch and saw eachother all the time, He was an amazing person and a friend everyone wanted. I miss him and Love him. My heart and prayers go out to his family, especially Victor and Joaquin his brother and cousin. I love you guys and stay strong. I will alway love you john, just like i know you will always love me,

From the previous ten comments on this tragedy posted on this forum , it sounds like this teen was loved by many. May God be with him, his family, and friends. I'm glad that no one posted any mean or insensitive comments, as I often read when accidents of this sort happen. Rest in peace young man.

A city sponsored chaperoned camp trip and the kid dies. Where were the chaperones? Maybe more chaperones were needed than just 7. City is responsible for the kid's saftey. Smells like a law suit to me.

You should call yourself Rotten Strawberry Frowns for that comment. In case you didn't read the article, a couple of the kids walked away from the campsite. That happens sometimes. This time with unfortunate consequences. Seven chaperones is a good ratio to 20 kids.

I don't know about that. My daughter went on an outing with City of Santa Fe Springs years ago and she slipped on some slippery rock and hung on. She was so scared. She finally pulled herself up thank god and was okay. When I went to the City to tell them there should've been more supervision, they just said we're sorry but at least shes okay. Oh yeah, and they had told her to take the kids to that area.
