My condolences to the family of the victim. A male 17 year old driving two females, ages 13 and 15 ?? Please explain. Hopefully manslaughter charges will be forthcoming if excessive speed can be proven as the cause of the death.

You must be that 1% of kids that never drove fast, eh?
I pray that the child's family and friends find solace.

This is a very unfortunate accident. Yes, it could have been avoided. Kids will never learn that speed kills, until something like this happens.

I'm not sure what your problem is with a 17 year old male driving a 13 and 15 year old female. That is something that I did all the time when I was a 17 year old.

Yes, he was speeding. It was an accident, and something that he will have to live with for the rest of his life.

Why do people always want to press charges and sue others. Get a life!

Find solace in what? Their child is dead for absolutely no good reason at all. "I must be that 1% of kids...."?? You're darn right I never drove like that. I wouldn't have touched a steering wheel again as long as I lived in my parents house. It's your attitude of "well, all kids do it" that insures our LEO's and EMT will continue to scrape up teenagers off the asphalt and out of farm fields. It is time to stop this stupidity, jail sentences are a good start. The 18 year old minimum age for drivers is another.

For one it is a problem with me as well to hear a 17 yr old has a 13 yr old in his vehicle. And if thats not enough he was careless with the way he was driving with other humans in the car. I doubt excessive speed constitutes as an accident.... that is something we choose to do.... not something we do as an accident. I do hope the parents sue.... i think thathe should be held accountable for his actions.

You too need to read Colt's Numero Uno's comment. Always looking to blame/charge/sue someone over accidents. RIP Tabitha.

Tabitha was on my daughters cheer squad several years ago, she was a sweet, energetic young lady, always smiling and upbeat. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends at this time. As to the young man driving, in time I hope he can forgive himself and has learned a very tragic lesson. Speed kills, not just teens, but anyone. Teens just do not have the experience to be driving other teens around. My thoughts and prayers are also with this young man and his family. I hope that this unfortunate "accident", and it was an accident, will cause other teens to slow down and to think before getting behind the wheel of a vehicle that can, and does, kill.

I think the driver was her family member.

All I know is my little girl came home from school with tears in her eyes today. We asked what was wrong and she told us a classmate and friend died, the principal had announced it after rumors swirl around all day. I was crushed.

What a helpless feeling...

May God be with the family.

If we are old enough to drive a car and hold a license we are old enough to be responsible. My father also told me driving is NOT a right but a privledge.
My heart goes out to the family of Tab a lost life of any kind do to wreck less driving is a waste.Being full of youth IS NOT an excuse to speed.

Disgusted? How 'bout disgusting? Did it ever occur to you,#1 - that families are friends and that 17 year olds might have 13 or 15 year old neighbors? Or that they could be related?

It's a small town. Everyone knows everyone.

Your disgust should be turned upon yourself. Instead of grieving for those who have lost, you've chosen to turn tragedy into an absolutely unnecessary political screed.

Hopefully, someone can provide you with the necessary shame for your horrendous comments.

My so is 14 and naturally wants to learn to drive. I swear I will stick to the rule of allowing other teens in the car with him or him riding with other teens.

You are an idiot. There is no wisdom in making a criminal out of everyone who makes a mistake; even when that mistake results in loss of life. I'm sure that the young man had no intention of harming anyone. It's punishment enough that he will remember the accident for the rest of his life. What a very sad situation for all involved.

Excessive speed causing a death is not an accident. It's manslaughter.

How many have to die before you are willing to try to stop it or slow it down? Grieving for the victim and the family is needed and will be done, but it does nothing to prevent more of the same. Take action to prevent these needless deaths.

Daily Horoscope for December 10

Aries

One of the family needs plenty of love and attention today, but the trouble is that you may not be able to spare the time. If so, you'll be consumed with guilt and self-reproach, and this may become so strong that it casts a blight over the day. So do what you can to let them know you're thinking about them, but resist the temptation to berate yourself over things you can't change.
