I saw this on another topix under woodrow football and thought I would post it and see what you people think.

totally agree with this crap of a coach not coaching. If you take on the job of coach you should know, IF YOU HAVE A BRAIN, that there are away games! And as for her kids being on the field at home games I agree there too. What happens in one of them big azz football players run over her little girl? WHO PAYS THOSE BILLS? WWHS is the only place you go that the cheer coaches sit ON THE FIELD WITH FAMILY MEMBERS AND like the administration at WWHS WARDEN THOSE GIRLS! OMG, and if she hates her job and told the girls that, then why dont she just quit. I know for a fact that she even had trouble at Liberty with the cheerleaders and their parents! Get a clue you NON CHEER COACH... Quit these girls deserve better than this. They want to be at those games home or away. Ask them when they signed up to cheer they knew there were away games and wait... THEY DONT GET PAID!!!!!!!! This town should be thankful that the radio announcer noticed that the girls were not there AGAIN! I heard that comment and he did not say anything wrong just the facts that he knew! Well I know it was the so called COACH that isnt going to the games even after being told she had to!!!
I AGREE DOCK HER PAY!!!

The million dollar question.... drum roll please..... Will there be cheerleaders at the St. Albans game?

Wanna really make a statement? Maybe the parents and fans should dress up as cheerleaders and go on the sideline.

No this is sad! These girls work very hard EVERYDAY and to have a coach that does not care is VERY SAD! This so called coach has completely ruined the heart and drive of these or most of these girls! If you take a job to coach then COACH! But make sure you at least know a little about what you are coaching!

I honestly can't believe that I am even reading this... When I was a varsity cheerleader at WWHS we were on the sidelines at every single home and away game! Sunshine, Rain, Snow, Sleet, whatever we were there Supporting our team! What is the point in even having a squad if they can't even "Cheer" on the team!!! If Stella is still the coach she must go!!! I was very lucky to have 2 amazing coaches 1 who is now passed away RIP Mrs. Davis and 1 who is now the princpal at Fairdale Elementary!!! They knew what Cheerleading was all about!!! Stella on the other hand isn't worried about cheerleading anymore her daughter is long gone and out of high school college for that matter... Im honestly still in shock that they don't cheer at away games... We had the best time cheering at Away games... what a shame!!!

Sad to say Stella is not the Head Coach, however she is still there... Tina Calfee is the so called head coach! I also was a cheerleader and we also went to EVERY GAME HOME OR AWAY... Well that is not the only problem, the head coach is so clueless and to this day thinks people are out to get her JOB... WHO CARES!!! These girls tried out for cheerleader for a reason, to be leaders! I think it is time for Tina and Stella both to go. There is so much fighting between girls/parents/coaches... oh my lord shall I go on... Im am not about bashing someone who is working hard to make these kids high school days memorable... The do put the work in, but not the so called cheer coach... If you get paid for a job...DO IT! These kids cant replace these memories, however Im sure the last 2 years of girls would love too!!! Again, when I cheered I have nothing but GREAT MEMORIES... We loved the away games, that is where we bonded, did hair, slept on the bus, this Tina woman needs to GO!!!

I agree this Tina chick needs to go! You people that comment about how wonderful she is... She left a cheerleader here Friday night that missed the bus, ok I know your saying so this kid was late... WELL SO WERE 2 OTHER GIRLS, they actually picked these 2 up at Lowes, and told the third girl if she was going to the game she had to drive herself!!! Well she did!!! Do you see if this child had had an accident WWHS, Raleigh County there would be so many law suits it would not even be funny!!! You cannot tell a kid to drive to a sporting event. This Tina chick needs to go she is terrible! You parents need to step up! Your kids are the ones paying the price!

Why would there be law suits? They didn't make her drive to the game - it was her or her parent's choice for her to drive.

Not flaming on you - its just that everytime I read something I hear sue this, lawsuit that, etc. If people/attorneys would have to pay for frivolous suits maybe our system wouldn't be so messed up.

Sorry to get off topic. Please continue.

Yes she did! She told her to meet them at the first toll booth and follow the bus! Come on she waited on 2 other girls and left on, told her to drive and then did not let her cheer. Give me a break...

i am not a former cheerleader nor do i have any girls that cheer but i do have sons who play football. my comment is that the cheer coach needs to go. those girls are nowhere near having fun out there nor do they pump up the crowd much less the team like i thought cheerleaders were suppose to do. the games i've went to i cant even hear them cheer at all and when i've seen them they all look glum. i think a new coach would be the best, it's triple A school whats the deal? so how do you go about kicking out a coach anyhow????

They are glum because she sits in front of them and bitches at them the whole game...She makes certain girls pull thier hair up in a ball and lets others fly away.....Her little girl runs all throught the girls when they are cheering and its a bother to all involved....Call the board members and complain...It is on the agenda for 2marrows board meeting....Go up there and voice your opinion.

People...my daughter was a varsity cheeleader at WWHS. Tina caused her major problems last year, her senior year. Check out The Register-Herald for a letter to the editor to appear..hopefully...this week about what happened!

I filed grievances with WWHS & the Board of Education last year. Tina is protected by the Teacher's Union! But who is protecting our cheerleaders from HER??

My daughter had to have a spinal tap, 6 weeks before the competition, she put an alternate in her place until she was medically released to come back, less than 1 week later, and then wouldn't put her back on the competition squad.

First, I don't know this coach, but I am associated with the one of the teachers' unions. Second, you are suggesting that we cover up the wrong-doing of our members. You are wrong. We do represent teachers facing grievances. Educational employees are entitled to legal representation just the same as the party who files the grievance. Association members pay for that representation through association dues. Both unions work diligently to improve conditions not only for educational employees, but also for students. I don't know the specifics of this particular case, but don't cast us, our representatives, or our members as villanous. This is a school-level problem. If you had wished to take it further, you should have done so through the proper channels. Don't accuse the teachers' organizations of "protecting" someone you view as a detriment; MOST teachers have the students' best interests at heart. Please don't paint us ALL with the same brush because you disagree with ONE of us. I promise, as a teacher, to return the favor when dealing with parents.

You are entirely correct and I sincerely apologize. However, my comment was made because when I asked someone at The Board of Education why she wasn't removed as coach, that was the response I was given. I did go through all the proper channels...all the way throug level IV...when i was told there was nothing that could be done. Competition was over...If the principal of the school & the cheer coach had made the proper ruling on day one...my daughter would've been re-instated that day....and things would've been settled. However, their choice was to have both girls re-compete for the spot my daughter had already earned. She chose not to put the other cheerleader through that, and she said she had been humiliated enough, and could no longer cheer for a woman she didn't respect, and chose to quit the squad. Nonetheless, i am sorry again for offending you or any other teacher. That was not my intentions.

Thanks. I'm sorry for your experience. I hope all ends well for everyone involved. I can't be too critical of your passion for your own child. That's just what moms do.

I think it is time for the parents to step aside and let Alumni take over this complaint. Obviously administration seems to think that it is just mommy and daddy complaining because their child is not being treated fairly, but that is simply not the case. These parents have a very legitimate complaint, but obviously their voices are not being heard. I ask all Alumni who have any pride in WWHS to please speak out so that WWHS is once again represented in a manner that is fit for our school. Remember the days when the cheerleaders truly lead the school in school spirit. Now they are treated like little dolls who can only stand around and look pretty, unless it is competition time. These are talented athletes who are being limited by a woman who considers her self their coach. I am sorry, she is coach only by name. Let it be known that I do not know this person nor do not have any personal interest in this person, Only in my school and the manner in which it is being represents. LET THEM CHEER, LET THEM HAVE FUN, LET THEM BE KIDS!!!!! Bring back the spirit to Friday night football and to the entire school in general. It is my understanding that they are not even allowed to wear their uniforms to school on game day, due to the Ms. Calfee's fear that something will happen to the uniform (like it really matters because I have yet to seems them wear a uniform). They are not in elementary school, I don't think they will spill milk or even worse, get ketsup or spagetti on it and if they do they are washable. They also do not need a warden to stand along them during the games. It looks foolish to have them coach standing on the sideline with them. It looks like what takes place in youth league cheerleading. You know, when the coaches stand in front of the mascots and C Team cheerleaders so that they can lead them with the cheer. The difference being... youth league mascots and C Team cheerleaders are 4,5 and 6 year olds. We are talking about 14, 15, 16, 17 and even 18 year olds. Look across the field. Do you see the other cheer coaches standing watch over their girls (or is she standing on the sideline to make sure her child does not run out onto the field, which is fixable by not allowing the child past the fence. What would happen if all of the little kids in the stands ran out and played on the track? I bet you money that those children would be IMMEDIATELY removed.

As WWHS Alumni I am absolutely appalled by what I am witnessing. Once again Alumni, lets speak our minds and bring back the "good ole days" where football games were fun for all involved.

I don't know you and I LOVE you!! LOL
Cheerleading is not what it used to be. It is now cheernastics. If you can't do gymnastics, you don't stand a chance of ever being a varsity cheerleader, no matter how good you are. It's all about the competition now.
This coach has a young daughter, who one of the cheerleaders always represents as Little Miss Flying Eagle.(can you say brownie points?) I hate to say this, but one day, some cheer coach may treat her daughter the way she has treated other cheerleaders, and her behavior may come back to bite her...you know where!
If I had all night to type, I could never begin to explain the pain and suffering this woman has caused my oldest daughter. My youngest daughter, who has been a cheerleader since elementary school, refused to try out to be a cheerleader at WWHS because of this coach. Luckily, she didn't ruin her love of cheerleading, and my oldest daughter went on to be a cheerleader at Concord University.
I wish there was some way a petition could be generated to oust this woman from her position. That was all I asked for last year when we filed a grievance against her...all the way to level IV with the WV Board of Ed, but was told they couldn't remove her from that position. I say an eye for an eye. She took away my daughter's position, we wanted hers!
Do I sound bitter....absolutely!!! If she were messing with us parents, we could fight our own battles, but she is messing with our kids, and there is nothing being done about it!
Can someone help???
