Does it occur to the people at Sun-Sentinel.com that homeless people will not be looking up shelter listings on their Dell Notebooks?

Don't "lump" all homeless people into the same category.

I recoment the Pompano location. They sell crack around the street. Since there are lots of Mexiacans there now Whites with a tan can blend in.
HOW would you know this? Don't lump all homeless with a few.
Your general distain comes shining through.
Contrary to popular belief, homeless don't have to have drug, alcohol or mental issues to become homeless.
Sometimes, they lose their jobs and everything else.
Most people live 1 or 2 paychecks away from homelessness.
Sometimes, it's due to catastrophic illness or injury where they are no longer able to pay for treatment and living expenses.
People just don't think it could ever happen to them.
If they don't have family who can help them, they end up homeless.
People really do think they have all the control over their lives until one day they wake up and it's all starting to unravel.
Don't be so smug as to think it can't happen to you.
It can.
Hope it never does. But, it can.

TheHomeless Voice is a shill organization that pays out a fraction of the money garnered by the sale of their pathetic rag on street corners.

However, what really makes me angry is that the same schmuck that "owns" the Homeless Voice has perpetrated another scam... in the guise of the Veteran Voice.

Playing on the generosity of the public toward our men and women in uniform, the Veteran Voice is a scam which is neither represented not approved by the Vetern's Admisnitration, the Veterans of Foreign Wars or the Amercian Legion.

Do not be taken advantage of. Do not give money to either the Homeless Voice or the Veteran Voice.

In my first post where I said the Homeless Voice only gives out a fraction of the money, I must admitt I was wrong. I had no idea they did so much with so little and I had no idea that they took all those poor folks who could not get in to the county shelters. Then I made the second mistake that the same swmuck owns the Veterans Voice. He does not own them and he is not a smuck. I did a surprise viist to the shelter Sean Coonie runs at midnight and when I asked for a tour they sent me to his office. When I knocked on the door he opeed up the door and was in a robe. He slept on the floor in his office. I am retracting what I said and I left there giving them a 200 cash donation. For others dont do what I did and judge , give them your donations they really do need it.

That was quite big of you to retract your statements like that FD. Everyone makes mistakes, more people should be as forthcoming.*high 5*:)

I stand at the Door and Knock. The foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests. I have no place to lay my head. May I come into your house and rest?
If you invite Yahshua (Jesus) into your home then you have invited the least of these. The Homeless, the widow and the orphan.

How sad you are and so full of hate. It is by the Grace of God you are not homeless.

So those that are homeless somehow fell out of favor with God and are undeserving of His grace? More religious babble. Your statement reminds me of disaster victims who say "it was because of God that I wasnt killed" completely ignoring the fact that the other 100 were killed. God has nothing to do with your particular station in life, positive or negative.

Why would we open shelters for these folks, why do we cater to these people who don't contribute to society?
But then again we do cater to the blacks, but hey they deserve it, their ancestors suffered hardships.
It would be so terrible if these people were to get driven away by the cold!
What hardships have blacks suffered? The last 5 generations have lived off welfare, that's actually all they've ever known - a free ride

I'm amazed at your ignorance. I'm black with a master's degree (my parents both had degrees and my grandparents were never on the dole). I still own a laptop (too old to pawn). I've lived with chronic depression for over 20 years; Six months ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer. The bank I've been with for 4 years laid off 30% of its staff and I lost my health insurance. I've never been on drugs or lazy... but here I am looking for a homeless shelter. The point here is that it can happen to anyone, regardless of race, sex or education. In case you haven't heard, the economy is in a major slump and homes are being foreclosed on at an unprecedented rate. Stop judging people. Find a way to address our society's problems constructively: write to your representatives and remind them of what's going on out there and urge them to do something.

The homeless are not who you think - they're now your former neighbors, your former co-workers, the guy or gal who owned the nice home with a manicured lawn next door that now sports a "for sale" sign....

Im deffinlty amazed at the comments i have read.
I could understand tho see someone on the street dirty n smelling like urine asking for money for booze being offensive.
but take me for example im about to be homeless and im extremly greatful that there is help and support from me since there is no one in my life to support or help me.
To be able to better my work skills and have a place to lay my head so i can get my life together.
trust me i never thought my life would run this route.
I wish all well
Bless
