Anyone know what happened at the school board meeting? I wasn't able to attend. How will affect what's already going on?

They will get big raises, and we will get big tax increases. I have never seen people find and lose such large sums of money in my life. At this point, I am completely convinced that it is nothing but pure corruption!

There must be an investigation into this from the TBI and FBI with state and federal funds being used. I cannot believe those involved are just ignorant when it comes to simple math and all they say is oh we made another error. Where will the NEW TAXES come from?

You ain't begun to understand what a tax increase is coming !!
The new taxes will come from property owners, you should start practing the grab your ankles exercise now because I predict it will be at least 50 cents (2.55) in the next 2-4 years. But don't worry, it's only pennies !!! You will never notice it after you die from the heat attack !
There will be NO investigation because they are above the law and untouchable. Another MORON will replace moosie and probably Hubbard, too. Ms Loy will be missed but most likely replaced with an idiot, then Cavanah will probably resign and they will put in another YES man in her place.
Yes folks, we are screwed but only for another 25-39 years, no biggie...

I think the state DOE and beyond should be blasted with phone calls and emails demanding a closer look. This isn't the only oversight in the county. If they paid a visit or conducted an anonymous tip service they'd find out. There should be a complete cleanout from the top down in JC schools. Dirtiest and biggest buddy system in the land. It's who you know and who you blow.

The taxes will come from the property owners of JC. Interesting article in the SubStandard Banner today. The school board is turning in their budget to the budget committee with no cuts to the 2.6 mil deficit. Yes, it is 2.6 mil. What was interesting is more of the phony numbers they are "working". They can't cut anything, and they are going to ask for a tax increase to cover it - sickening!

Entirely different subject - that had nothing to do with the current budget.

The Banner article quoted Edmunds saying teachers have a 180 day contract. This is wrong. Teachers have a 200 day contract. I would like everyone to see the salaries of all administrators and their assistants will a total the DOE pays for administrators. Interesting that each school withn 550 students needs a principal and an assistant. The high school has three too many assistant principals as well. I think the school board should cut all administrator pay 15 per cent and eliminate positions in central office as well as . Contact board members and county commissioners.

Another who knows nothing which to speak of, this whole mess was when Mike Long was here, Darrell inherited it, and why don't you say get rid of Edmonds and over 100,000 dollar job, he slid a 77,000 dollar raise thru under mikes nose for 7 of his prime employees at the Central office, not to mention all the money the school board has wasted. Darrell cant crap money and the 2.4 million short fall comes from the schools wasting it. He can't crap the money you know.

Mayor has yelled all along there would have to be a tax increase and he has fought against it but if eleven commissioiners won't support him nothing can be done. The commissioners we have don't even understand what is going on. They give the schools everything they ask for. Its a joke.

Perhaps seeing the names, years of experience, and salary of each administrator with the total paid for their pay as well as their secretaries would go far to open the eyes of those eleven commissioners. We have a school system that gets very poor grades and yet the administrators in charge can only make excuses and demand higher salaries to do less work and get very few success indicators as a system. It is time to cut salaries and cut administrator positions. If their salary were cut 15 per cent, they still would be among the highest paid in Jefferson County. Using the argument that we need to pay as well as surrounding counties is unnecessary. I am sure there will be plenty of applicants if the current administrators choose to go elsewhere. Could we get any worse administrators than current ones?

Some Central Office administrative assistants make more than experienced masters level teachers. This is not only wrong, but disrespectful to teachers who are responsible for lives all day long, who have countless evaluations and test scores to stress about. I'm not talking about assistants who have earned raises the past 20 years with that salary, because experience deserves higher pay, but people with 5 years or less make more than teachers. How sad is that? The Post reported salaries a while back. I bet you can google it and find it like I did. The assistant salary was released there and the SB way back, too.

no need to blame the school system, its county commission who gives them the money. Why don't you give the commissioners who have voted for all this a call. That's where it begins and ends. Problem is they don't return calls or even know enough about it to talk to you.

"I do not think that the County Commission or the Budget Committee or the School Board, for that matter, should delve into curriculum management. They are wholly unqualified to make those decisions and should leave them to those who are responsible for the education of students. Curriculum should be off of the table and should never be considered a cutting point for other government bodies. I find it hard to believe that the same people who are adamant about raising taxes in light of the economy would consider burdening teachers with great additional costs. They are taxpayers, too. I often wonder if we just donít like teachers in this County. Health insurance was given instead of a raise years ago. It was a good deal for the County then and they should not be able to welch on an agreement just because times are hard."

True! If the county wants a state run, low achieving, low graduation rate school for their kids then this should do the trick. Without block atudents have less courses to take, and less to fail. Then, stsrt making the lowest paid teachers pay for benefits and talk about a mass exodus of highly qualified teachers! JC teachers would be INSANE to make less than neighboring counties AND pay gor things that make the low pay bearable! I certainly hope educators are consulted before ANY changes such as these are made. I wonder, taxes were increased to cover $64M in buildings, but only $24M was given, right? Where's the money? Also, I love how no cuts in the CO were mentioned. Talk about an area that wouldn't affect students and their educations...that's a great starting place. Another thing would be to get rid of new assistance for those who were granted raises for "extra" duties. Jeff Co could use a clean up from higher up if you ask me. Cutting teachers and courses/programs means less opportunity for studrnts and higher class numbers. I guarantee no one in the CO, CC, or SB will ask people trying to get test score improvement and graduation rates higher what they think and how these absurd ideas will affect the students. JC Post is right...they must not like teachers, come to think of it they may not like students either! I hope people realize they are not qualified to act on behalf of the students and teachers.
