I just happened across this old article and thought I would spreak some truth. I was there the night this assault happened. Department of Children's Services (DCS) would shortly release the following lies. The guard (a 66 year old man) was assisted by other staff in a manner of seconds. Lie, he laid on the floor bleeding for at least 15 minutes (his own est.) This was not an attempted escape, the guard retained his keys and radio. Lie, both keys and radio were taken, it was an attempted escape, but the unit guard does not have keys to open an outer door. DCS is intrested only in good press, and they will lie to keep from looking bad. DCS has no business running prisons, and that is exactly what Mountain View is. There are 4 identical facilities in the state. Punks have to have been convicted of 3 felonies, or 1 violent felony to go there. They are prisons. DCS doesn't know what it is doing there. Department of Corrections needs to be running these facilities. It is just common sense. BTW, the guard that was beaten up was later fired. The state workers comp doctor cleared him, but his own nurologist did not. He was having mini strokes due to a blood clot in his neck. DCS fired him anyway. DCS is a joke.

Does anyone remember Corporal Brian Brown from Mtn. View? Looking for some answers. We need to have closure. He was an officer in the late 90's.

I knew Brian, he was a good man, that made a bad choice one night. He was killed a few years ago in a motorcycle wreck.

Remember the juvenile who jumped from the cop car or whatever at the 8 mile marker into White Pine. She lived in White Pine and wanted to go home. I'm sorry I don't remember her name. When they found her on the side of the road, I believe HOURS later, she was still handcuffed. A very sad story I will never forget. She lived for days before she died. God bless her heart and grant peace to her family.

I'm not familiar with that incident. Why did the officers not go back to find her? That's
horrible! God bless her family.

Mountain View is a JOKE! So much crap goes up there behind closed doors! THey dont want any of it to get "leaked" out. That place has broken up so many marriages. They are very mean to the children there. I worked there I KNOW what goes on. They dont care about the students as they call them there all they worry about it getting their next piece of ass from a co worker. They talk shit about these boys all the time. Its really a sad place!! They need to do something about it. They act like its a big daycare there not a prison.

As for the 66 year old that was wroking and got injured well they did fire him which I think it WRONG! He needs to sue the hell out of that place. They dont even give raises anymore nor do they pay you overtime even though your REQUIRED to work it!

They have to hire who they can. The pay rate for that job is a joke, can't hardly hire any decent people. Were you too concerned about adults banging each other that you didn't pay attention to the inmates wrecking havoc around you? You know damn well that if those little bastards would have behaved then things would be fine for them. Daycare is right. You can't control them if you can't punish them. If you can't punish them then they don't give a F and will do whatever the hell they want. You know the dumb ass stuff they would do just to cause problems. And that's not even counting the assults on staff and or extortation/assults on weaker and younger inmates. Yeah inmates, I refuse to call them students. How can you defend them? Btw, I was yard security, so I know.
