On Elmer's diner

In addition to the employees' poor sanitization of hands, etc., the food is awful. Shut the place down and get a great diner in there like the one at Exit 8 I-84 in Bethel. Someone should go in Elmers at night - the employees are sitting at the counter with their HEADS on the countertop resting. ewwww, awful.

DEPORT these criminals! Unacceptable in America. Ruining our way of life. The elves at Elmer's I,m talking about. Besides baking cookies in a tree is unsafe as it can easily catch on fire as it is made of WOOD!

I've only been to Elmer's once, but it was lousy. Food was marginal, and cold. Also, it had just opened. It didn't go down hill, it started at the bottom.

Pay it forward: regarding the diner at exit 8, are you talking about the colony 5 (across the street from Sportsplex)? If so, I think that place is lousy as well. The home fries look like they scraped them off of the floor. The Windmill on 7 in New Milford is pretty good, but seem to be struggling with business. Probably being crushed by Friendlys and 3 Brothers.

haha Minnie I agree, Elmer's is pretty bad, but Colony 5 isn't great either.

I only go to Three Brothers. The staff is always welcoming and the food is fantastic. The diners in general in this area are horrible, but this one is the closest I can get to a real NY diner! Great pancakes and gyros!

Wait a minute. Kabuki got an 83 and wasn't closed, when the others were closed for an 89? Who's on the take here?

Elmer is a hard-working guy who is extremely nice. The breakfast is consistent and tasty. I've also had the grilled chicken club a few times and it was very good. I'm very picky when it comes to food and I wholeheartedly approve of Elmer's. He just needs to keep on his employees about hand-washing. Also, see Suzy if you need a caucasion waitress-she's very nice too!

My friends and I went to 3 Brothers once (after the re-build) and there were roaches crawling on the booth behind ours. We went and told the host as we were leaving, which was before we ate. He said: "you don't have to pay" and I said "I wasn't intending on paying, later!"
Never been back since.

Once you get roaches they never leave, knocking down the building and building a new one didn't keep them away.

And please don't tell me all restaurants have roaches, they might-but not where i'm eating or in my food.

Also have seen roaches at the Ethan Allen Inn and Pizza Palace in Newtown.

To those establishments that have roaches: "less time between exterminator visits please!"

Roaches crawl on the walls at Almonte's Pizzeria too. We sat down, saw them, and got up & left. Ew.

I think bluu off exit 7 is the best I've been to recently. Simple menu, great burgers. sushi, pizza and salads. Clean, and nice wait staff.
Check it out!

Kabuki only scored an 83 after reinspection? They should've gotten a closure notice - maybe they did but the papaer missed reporting it.

Kabuki became a real dump.

Regarding Elmer's. I went there after it opened. Saw Elmer - nice guy. However, there was a middle-eastern-looking guy who stood behind the person at the cash register watching everything. They guy didn't say anything, didn't look at me, didn't crack a smile, didn't say "thank you". He just kept his eye on the transaction (he must be the "real" owner). The food was also "average". Never went back.

What does **** stand for? Rats or bugs?
Yeah, some places are real dumps but do well (eg Kabukis - been around for the longest time).
Great chinese takeout: I get mine in Brookfield "Moon Star", nice people, great food.
It's interesting, though to see all the scores and such.
By the way - anybody been to the Montana Grill formerly Wrap and Roll? Do they really think that changing the name will change their ways? If you don't wash your hands, you just don't wash your hands!

I was wondering the same thing. Can someone explain the scoring system and how some places with higher scores can get closed?
