The report on the State Police website makes it very clear what happened. Do you think the police said "Sure, keep holding that gun while we talk about last night's Yankee game"?

Here's the situation. You've just chased an armed man into the woods. He turns around and points the gun in your direction. Do you:

A) Say "Please put the gun down, Sir".
B) Pee in your pants
C) Run like hell
D) Walk to the Grassy Plain Dunkin' Donuts and order a cruller
E) Defend yourself

STILL UNDER investigation

Do you honestly think the state police website is going to say "We screwed up"? No way! Answer me this. If you read all of the news stories you would know that there were three cops there and only one shot was fired. Don't you think that if he was such a threat all three cops would have unloaded on him? And this is the same cop that accidentally shot another officer in a training excersise last year. Sounds to me like it was a case of an itchy trigger finger and murder by uniform rather than suicide by cop, which the media is making it out to be.

It sucks anyone has to die, but everyone knows if you point a gun at a cop, he's probably going to shoot you, he has no other choice.

Don't want to get shot by a cop? then don't point a gun at him.

Why didn't the cop just wound him? Couldn't be tasered? Why not use a bean bag gun?

I totally agree with you. Only ONE made the shot. Totally itchy trigger finger and in my eyes maybe he was trying to be a HERO. That is no hero in my eyes. This guy needs a lot more training exercises...

How you do not understand that the guy aimed a gun squarely at a police officer, thus forcing the officer to choose to live or die is beyond me.

The ONLY reason it happened is because of the actions of the deceased, had he chosen to drop his gun, he would be alive today.

First, regarding this cop who "accidentally" shot another cop sometimes earlier: Everyone who has been trained bu the military and/or cop shops knows that on a firing range the safety is always kept "on" until the weapon is pointed at the target. But this cop got away with his "accident" because of the "blue wall" factor. If he was in the military they'd take his gun away for a long time. Second, regarding his current shooting, I agree that there may have been an alternative to subdue the father and grandfather, especially in that the other 2 cops chose not to fire. For the good of Bethel this cop should leave the PD.

THREE cops ONE shot...why you don't find this strange is beyond me. Furthermore, how many people do you think have to get shot before this guy has his gun taken away?

Oh please. Do you honestly believe that he pointed the gun directly at them after knowing that there were 3 cops and one shot? Come on. If someone points a gun directly at a bunch of cops they are going to unload on him.

Perhaps you shouldn't be so quick to judge. You don't know the situation. The media twists stories to make us blindly trust the police because if we didn't the end result would be anarchy and chaos. Did you hear about the incident in New Milford where an unarmed guy was running away from police and he was shot in the back? Well the guy who was shot was made out in the media to be a menace to society. Fact is, he was UNARMED AND RUNNING AWAY. Whether or not he was a "bad guy" is irrelevant. He's dead, and the police no longer have to "deal with him". The police in this state literally get away with murder, and we not only let it happen, we commend them. This country was founded against government repression. Remember that.

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Pisces

Although you're busy putting the finishing touches to your Christmas preparations, you'll also have to pay attention to someone who's feeling neglected or unloved. Luckily, it won't take much to make this person feel better, so a big hug or a little consideration might do the trick. You should also bear in mind that they may be feeling nostalgic or sad about the past.
