That's a good point, now that Boughton started his dream of wiping out Hispanics and Brazilians from Danbury do you think that there will be great change? When this fails like it has in other places across the country who will be to blame. Hopefully Boughton thinks of this as a big win and has the nerve to run for something higher so he will leave Danbury and then get crushed in any other election especially if he is sumb enough to challenge Chris Murphy after Cappiello gets blown out. The Democrats who voted in favor of this just know that your time is coming. Danbury Democratic Town Committee, you better take a hard look at the recent municipal elections and get right because before you will know it there will be fresh democratic leadership in Danbury. Danbury is now the largest city in CT with a Republican-controlled city government and considering our demo. and past that should not be a statistic that belongs to us.

I will reiterate. I don't know how long you've lived in the area, but Danbury looked a lot more third-world before the recent influx of immigrants from South America than it does today, thanks to them. And I don't know how much you've travelled around the country or the world, but pictures I have seen of New Orleans look pretty "third world", what's with this superiority complex of most Americans? In addition, most working class people need to realize that it's the economy, not immigration which is causing them trouble. And if there wasn't exploitation of immigrant workers, they wouldn't need to worry as all would be paid the same and there would be a competition based on ability. There has always been "organized opposition", so what has been posted is nothing new. Just the same oogly foogly "we're watching you" nonsense creeping up until it calms down here.

That's why (from what I read) they are looking toward putting detectives in the program. Detectives are more methodical in their police training and investigations. And Danbury has some very efficient detectives here.

You can't divorce people from their fears. On either side. And it's just something that the community will have to deal with. And hopefully come to terms with without too much adieu.

This is something Danbury has needed. And maybe there will come a time when Danbury will no longer need the services.

But right now, one step at a time.

I beg to differ. The noise outside sent a message to the council that they were going to be intimidated into doing something against their concience and against common sense, and that might well have finalized the vote in the minds of a couple of them. Total silence from all those people, with some candles borrowed from the church vigil across the street, would have had a much more
dramatic effect on the council - but defeating the ICE vote was not really why the rally took place.
But, maybe not. I have e-mails from a couple council members who knew how they were going to vote, and that's just how they did.

I was out there myself for about an hour. I parked on New Street and walked over, past the bus parked in the Fire Dept (why there?). It was peaceful, but almost impossible to get around. I was pleased to see an American flag near the center of the hooting, but not so pleased to see an Ecuadorian (sp?) flag held even higher farther down. The people were pleasant, many laughing and waving those pink signs around, but quite a few in the middle of the group seemed confused, saying each other "what now"? Police seemed to do a great job keeping things by the numbers.
