Why didn't the Candlewood lake authority shoot him and stop the car? We pay taxes so they can have guns on the lake. Why? I don't know. Take away the guns from the CLA!

I agree!! NEVER has the NT listed what bars people were at in DUI/DWI arrests. But, we have to remember one of the people suing is a Danbury Fireman. They all stick together!!
Well, actually, they did, very recently, too. There was a drunk driver who left Colliseo in New Milford, and the staff called it in & he was arrested.

Does anybody else remember when Candlewood Inn was a bar/restaurant? The Brookfield PD used to sit in the town park parking lot, at the entrance to Mountain Rd, the Lake Club, and at (what's now) Echo Bay Marina. If you were bar hopping betw DTH and the Inn, you had no choice but to go past at least 1 or 2 cops on your way home. They were just waiting to give anybody and everybody the breath-o-lizer.
I agree with the posters that said either name ALL of the bars the drunks are coming from or don't post it at all. Sounds like a witch hunt on the part of the NT.

can someone explain to me why down the hatch has not yet had its liquor permit pulled in light of the ongoing investigation regarding the boating accident
Probably because there was no evidence of wrongdoing. Do you think the hatch planted the 19 cans of beer in the boat ? Then again, you are so dumb you think they did. You probably want to blame the oil companies because without it, the boat never would have been moving.

The boat driver was drunk
The boat driver was irresponsible
The boat driver was at fault

Yup. The trick was to let someone drunker than you leave first.

Of course it's a witch hunt on behalf of the NT. Just imagine how the staff meeting went.

Male Reporter - "darn those idiots at the hatch, they carded my girlfriend and wouldn't let her in. So she's only 14, she acts older"

Male Reporter's boss - "oh what a shame, that's the first date you had in 5 years that did not walk out on you when she first met you, you should get back at them, let me tell you how"

Editor - "oh i like that idear, just drop ig off on mi desk when your dunn with it"

Male reporter "ok great, that's done, now for my next article maybe I can write about something really boring that happened in some other part of the state, and I can take pictures of the traffic on my way home with my cell fone, this way the people in Danbury will know what traffic looks like"

The Hatch continues to be mentioned in this story because of the seriousness of the accident and for the simple fact that everyone knows they were there.. this is a continuing situation at this establishment.. Ive frequented this place and have seen DRUNKSSSS simply getting back into their boats or vehicles and taking off.. does the Hatch not have some responsibility to their patrons safety.. they are known for their dock access and PARTYYY atmosphere

I love how everyone says this guy is a loser. That whole bar is a bunch of white trash losers. I took my family there last sunday and could not believe how far down hill this place has gone.
The staff is the same staff that has been there for the last 10 years. The only change is there was the weathered bartenders now have fake breast.
Down the Hatch used to be a cool place to get drink and hangout with friends. The place has not updated in the slightest in the last decade. They even have the same pathetic bouncers. What a dump! Its like entering a 90s twilight coke den. Someone please buy this place and make it over.

No, it's the behavior of non-whites that excuses your racism.

When is down the Hatch going to wake up and take responsibility for all the drunks they serve. Trust me I have my share of fun but w/the most recent accident we are lucky the drunk guy did not kill an innocent person. DOWN THE HATCH WAKE UP AND SO SHOULD THE BROOKFIELD POLICE AND STATE LIQUORE COMMISSION.

Perhaps it's the drunks who should take responsibility for their action.

Blaming the Hatch is akin to our blaming your teachers for not knowing how to spell the word liquor.

Not entirely correct. If you bothered to read the report the driver of the fishing boat was found to be "at fault" You are correct that the other driver was drunk and irresponsible.
