"There are no other options in this town," Johnston said. "The town needs to get behind economic development."

But there is plenty of space in Waldoboro to rent for storage and retail. People can get busy and do their own economic development. Taxpayers have plenty of roads to fix, schools to run and fires to put out and we should not let ourselves be guilted into subsidizing private business.
