Everyday i walk down the street and what do i see but more and more youth's covered in "body art" as the call it..... i understand times have changed from the days when circus side shows and sailors had tatoo's but i seriously feel parents should step it up and take a pro active role in the childs life and not let them get a tatoo or a awful piercing let alone in there face or a hula hoop in their ear.... it might just be my opinion but your body covered with visiable tatoo's does nothing but limit you prof. and socialy in life...... and i also feel tatoo's on a female are taboo and are totally uncalled for let alone ones you can see when they are clothed..... does anyone else agree?.....

I have never felt more open minded in my life. I can only assume you are "elderly", and your prejudice is due to the generation gap. I think it's funny when old ladies get pink or blue tinted hair but hey if they think it looks nice, more power to em! I just want everyone to be happy with themselves and treat each other the way we want to be treated ourselves. Even if that means getting covered in TATTOO's and piercing.

Fairy god mother, you shouldn't burden yourself being worried about what other people do to their bodies. Rigid, closed minded people like you are the problem in society, always putting up a stink about what everyone else looks like. Who cares? People are: Ugly, pretty, fat, skinny, hairy,b ald, wrinkly, tatooed, pierced,br anded.... and what somebody looks like on the outside has no bearing as to what they are like on the inside. So do your self a favor and stop judging everyone you see, you might find a bit more happiness in your life.

I have raised two children that are now grown adults and neither one ever brought up getting a tatoo or a god awful piercing.... I pray that you my dear are not one of these people who have ruined your natural body desecrating it with "body art".... perhaps you need the lord in your life to guide the way if you have....

Sorry to burst your bubble but I am an atheist. I have very good morals. I don't need "god" to give my life meaning. I was brought up going to church, but I choose to believe in evolution and science, not a ghost. I bet you just love the many people that get Jesus tattoo's, hahaha.

I do have "body art" and I make a very good living for myself. I'm glad my parents are nothing like you. They are extremely proud of all that I have accomplished and are happy as long as I am happy. And by the way its spelled TATTOO.

Fairy God mother...it is proper to always use capitals when speaking of God,the Lord, Jesus Christ,....it is considered sacreligious not to. I am very young & growing up, I did decide to get my belly button pierced (way b4 everyone was doing it here..had to have it done on vaca in Florida), once everyone started doing it too, I had mine taken out. I did it simply cause I had a rockin' body with a very pretty stomach & I felt the peircing enhanced it, also because it wasn't perminent.I personally agree with you, I think tattoos are so overrated & generally look hideous. That is not a judgement of those who have them, just my own personal opinion. It's just not my thing. I think the human form is more beautiful without ink. I have a close friend who is considering getting a mid-size tattoo on her back...she has an 8hr. appt set up, she asked me what I thought about her choice & I told her I wasn't a good one to ask because I don't like tattoos at all. I do, oddly enough think it is an artform & love watching Miami & LA Ink on TLC, just don't find it attractive or anything I want for me or my children. I think the world is evolving & it is not so limiting professionally depending on your field of work, but I do see where it is possible for tattoos to get in the way of some professional situations. It has become a very popular thing..you'd be hard-pressed to watch any pro-sport on tv & not see tattoos all over the atheletes...even moreso in college sports. I think the ppl on here giving fairy godmother a hard time just because she feels DIFFERENTLY than them are the "close-minded" ones. Funny I married a guy with two tattoos..one I actually like because of it's significance to his time in the military & I understand his desire to honor that..the other one is non-sensicle & I can't stand it.... doesn't change how I feel about him as a person though. I think if there is some major significance & meaning like the tatoos that memorialize someone or sometime in your life are more meaningful than lets say a tattoo of your favorite NASCAR driver or ballteam. I often thought of getting something that honored each one of my children, something small & tasteful, but I would want it where I could hide it if need be, so what's the sense in that & again it's perminant. I guess, what I'm trying to say is to each, his own....

"god awful piercing"...isn't that taking the lords name in vain? Either way it did not sound very "Christian like". But I'm sure you will be forgiven, lol.

Tattoos and piercings are a mean of self-expression. They are a form of art. Just because you might have enough funds, or like Finalybusted said are an "elderly" citizen does not mean that other cannot decorate their body the way that they choose. Why do you care so much about their private and personal markings anyways?

okay, no disrespect or anything but everyone has there own views on the tattoos and such, just respect there views! and as for the "lord" my mother goes to church pretty much every day of the week and she is very very into church but she has tattoos and paid for half of my first one and paid for me to get my tounge, both sides of my lip, and my ears gauged out and just because she didnt mind it doesnt make her a bad mother at all if you dont like it then dont get a tattoo and or piercing but dont judge other ppl if they have them i have since took all my piercings out because of ppl judging and i couldnt get a job but if i could i would love to have the all back.

It seems most of the really young kids drawn to these types of "expression" have low self esteem. It's another attempt to fill a void that should have been filled at home. Really, God and your Fairy God Mother have nothing to do with it.

Okay I just have to share my "morale view" on this subject and I'm sure I will offend someone because for some reason, people aren't happy unless they are causing drama. To begin with, Fairy God Mother never said at any point in time that she had something against people with tattoos, she was just stating her opinion based on what she feels is right biblically and morally. Isn't that what this forum is all about? Having adult conversations based on opinions? Secondly, why is it that if someone like Fairy God Mother has a different opinion than the MAJORITY, that makes her a target of insults? Don't you people see that you are doing to her the VERY thing you are complaining that she did to you? If you people want respect for your opinions, then you should respect the people who don't share yours. She has every right to say she doesn't like people's taste in tattoos just as much as you all say you do. Leave the poor woman alone, she has the same rights as you do in expressing her opinions, whether you agree or not. And now for the record, I agree with Fairy God Mother. Most "morale" situations is really a split between people who believe in God and the Bible vs. those who don't. The Bible states in many places that your body is the "temple of the Holy Spirit." The Bible insinuates that piercings and tattoos are not appropriate, as well as the consumption of alcohol. If you chose to not believe in God or the Bible, unfortunately that is your choice, but please don't insult the people who do. We stand up for what we feel is right in the eyes of the Lord, and it is our Christian duty to share the Lord with others, and that includes giving our opinions on such things as this to show an example and spread the Word of God. If you don't want to hear it, that is fine, but be more polite about it and respect that EVERYONE has opinions and they might be the same as YOURS!

Get out your list of things to do, because you're in a very industrious and efficient mood. Start with whatever is most urgent and then carry on from there.
