Chase ends in motorbike passenger's death

even though the driver of the motorcycle was breaking the law, i feel it was too dangerous to chase him. the officer had the tag number of the motorcycle and a description of it. he could have arrested him at a later time.

Let's look at the root cause here, the driver of the bike refused to stop for the police. He chose to run therefore instigating the chase. He violated multiple traffic laws while endangering the lives of others. All the guy had to do was stop and take his medicine, and a life would have been saved. Don’t blame law enforcement for doing their job.

Very true but those bikes are much faster and can manuever way better than a patrol car can. Whats the point in chasing if he had the tag number. For the fun of it? |

Anybody know what's going on with this case? The guy who killed the man is being tried on felony murder charges, but I have never heard when the court date is.

well if you dont run you dont die dont be a tard and run from 5-0, when you do you put your life and others in your own hands. JUST STOP and face the consequences of your big boy desicions and actions you just committed..........

So it is Ok to chase a guy to give him a $70.00 ticket AND TO KILL INNOCENT people in the process. Many people have been killed because of a cop chasing somebody for a traffic violation. Just because the guy running is stupid. The cops shouldn't be more stupid and chase them to the point of endangering the general public. It's both the runner and the cops fault. They both did not make good decisions. But most cops would rather drive a car fast, pull their gun and chase women than eat or get a decent job. |
|

It wouldn't have mattered if the police had the license number if it was stolen. Are you people saying if anyone runs from the police then they should just let him go?
|

The point is should a Law Enforcement officer chase a person for a traffic violaton or even a stolen car for that matter. A car is just a material thing that can be replaced, or some other minor infraction. Yes and no, yes initially but stop before it becomes dangerous to the public. Do you want to kill someone for a traffic ticket or to recover a stole car??? If it means killing one of my children or someone else's children I don't care if they steal every car in the county. Local Cops and Deputies know who they are chasing 90% of the time they know everyone in the city and county and every kid driving a fast car and the habitual DUI's. If a cop chases a person until they or him kill a member of my family in the pursuit then I am coming after that Stupid Cop one way or another just like I am coming after the guy that ran. It is both their fault and they both should be prosecuted. |

mawmaw let me ask you a question? lets say a madman broke into your house stole your things raped you while you were asleep and kidnaped your 2 year old grandaughter.........now the police find this sick S.O.B. and try to stop him cause you have called 911 saying all these things happened to you and your family.... and he takes off trying to get away from the police and wrecks killing an innocent bystandard but your grandaughter survies and the S.O.B. is arrested and sent to prison for the things he has done to you and your family is that still going to be the case just get his tag number and you can arrest him later........no from experiences in the past you are going to be grateful to the law enforcement community for the great deed they have done for you and your family....... from the way i see it your damned if you do damned if you dont..........so you along with all the rest of us need to sit down with our elected officals and discuss these things with them and see what can be done.......... |
|
NO i say chase on, an officer of the law should through experiences, know the boundries involved during a car chase and most of them do......i have seen cases where the law enforcement offical called off the chase.......did the guy in the dragged out race car quit no he did not. he keeps goign at 150 mph and the police are no wheres around him when he crashes and kills himself and others. so i say chase on..... if there were not laws to have to follow where would this country by at.......... so like i said in an earlier post if you dont run you dont die.... all these people had to do is stop and take thier punishment for the things they have done........ |

In this particular case, the man who caused the accident was not a police officer. He was just a wannabe who was involved in something he should have stayed out of. He will be in court soon as he has been indicted on felony murder charges. So it will all come out and I feel sure justice will be prevailed.

as, justice always does....... |

What chase are ya'll talking about and when did it happen?
|
|
We are not talking about murderers and rapist. I've heard that old excuse a thousand times.Rarely does this kind of thing happen. Most innocent citizens are killed by cops chasing some stupid kid for a traffic violation or some other minor crime. If a cop has no better judgement than to chase some idiot until they or he kills somebody they don't need to be a cop and if they do kill an innocent bystander they should be prosecuted just like the guy that is running. If the guy keeps running after the cops have given up the chase then it's all on their head not the cop, the world is full of idiots and criminals. About 4 years ago two North Carolina State Troopers ran over two old ladies going to church at over 100 miles per hour near Murphy chasing after a car that was speeding and was never identified. Both the old ladies were butchered and one of the Troopers was killed. Was a speeding ticket worth killing three people???Same thing happened in Eton Georgia a few years ago and to a kid on a motorcycle near Chatsworth. Apparently you think the cops should just go "bat out of hell" after everybody that runs from them and damn the general public. Like I said before if it means killing somebody just minding their own business going to the grocery store or the mall or picking up their kids then I don't give a damn if all the crooks in the world get away I wouldn't trade one child or one innocent life for every criminal in the world and I don't care if the idiot that is running kills himself. The cops shouldn't push him until he kills someone else. They will eventually be caught doing something because that is their nature they are criminals. I thought the cops were supposed to serve and protect. Killing innocent people for traffic violations is not protecting. |

Vehicular homicide case among those on Judge Howell's docket
Brande Poulnot Staff Writer Published December 09, 2007 12:35 AM CST Superior Court Judges Shepherd Howell and David Smith will begin whittling away the more than 260 total cases on their criminal jury trial dockets Monday. Jeffery Scott Brooks, 43, of Cartersville, is on Judge Howell's docket. He is accused of causing the death of 36-year-old Antonio "Tony" Perez Hall Sr. by assaulting him with the vehicle he was driving April 6, 2006. Brooks was indicted in April on charges of felony murder, homicide by vehicle in the first degree, and homicide by vehicle in the second degree. According to the indictment, Brooks placed the 2000 Ford F-150 he was driving into the path of Hall's 2001 Kawasaki motorcycle on Highway 20 Spur at the intersection of Jim Knight Road, resulting in a collision. Brooks was a Bartow County Parks and Recreation employee at the time. An initial accident report released by the Georgia State Patrol indicated the collision occurred during a high-speed chase involving Hall and several marked GSP patrol cars. One eyewitness said it appeared as if Brooks pulled in the path of Hall's motorcycle deliberately. The state's discovery materials lists a recorded interview with the eyewitness, which prosecutors plan to present as evidence. According to the discovery materials, prosecutors will also present in-car recordings of five troopers involved in the incident. The results of the GSP investigation and the GSP's 171-page Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team report, along with photographs of the vehicles and the scene, are also state's evidence. Hall's autopsy findings are listed as evidence, including medical examiner photographs. According to the autopsy report, Hall died of blunt trauma to the chest as a result of the collision. |

And if that paralyzed man had not given that cop any lip, she would not have dumped him out of that wheel chair. And if their were not so many trailers between Ringold and Tunnel Hill, their would be fewer redneck living their. Its all about judgement and that criminal with a badge decided to continue a high speed chase putting other drivers at risk for a speeding ticket. That cop was an idiot. The other idiot is dead. |
Brooks will have plenty of time to think about that while he's sitting in prison with all the other criminals. Bottom line---he's not a cop, he had no place to do what he did. |
|

mawmaw,
You don't like cops, DO YOU? |
|
NO she dont at this moment, until she desprately needs them and they are there for her, then she will like them.......... |
