Have you or your children started itching? Some of my family members have gone to the doctor recently and they were diagnosed with scabies. The only place they could think they could have caught this was at school. The doctor mentioned that daycares and schools have this problem a lot. It's very contagious and the entire family/close friends etc.. have to be treated. Also, how do you know who you caught it from and have they been treated? And who else they are passing it to? Just curious if anyone else is experiencing this same concern? Thank you!

Break out the flea soap. We have not seen much at the hospital but that is not an indicator. One kid can spread this crap to 50 in one day.

Big outbreak at the Sunshine House in Pwder springs,on 92 next door to dollar store this dump is closing for good.Today I picked up my G.Daughter and they told me another break out with
Lice,I said this is the 2nd time in a Month she says I am sorry but yours dont have it I said no shit.So have to wash her blanket and throw away her pillow and wash everything in hot scolding water.I don't care what they say kids get them from kids that don't bath or wash there hair. And Nasty,So everyone has to pay she wont go there Friday or Monday and she will Tuesday because they are gonna put on a Show for Parents.I have been scratching my head all night.Might be my imagination but it is creeping me out.Friday of next week this joint will close down for good and like I said Tuesday night she will go back for there end of pre K show.I told my daughter that Lice is a nice word for scabbies she doesn't beleive me.You really have to go to the Doctor and get the percriptions for the shamopp and pick the nits out, then you have to bath with some other stuff they give you.The junk in the store they sell son't work that great. It's a pain but this has been around for years in all states. My kids had it in Miami in elementary and I thought I would loose my mind.I just shaved my son's head and my Daughter with Long Hair it takes forever to get the knits out the eggs. When you start itching on your legs and sides whelps and red rashes will show up,if you have it you will know it.Everything in your house sheets, clothes, blankets have to be washed in scolding hot water. good luck.

Scabies should be a job for hazmat. You never know where your gonna run into those nasty little critters. Use foggers and wash everything you can twice.

Scabies and lice are different. Lice attach themselves to your hair, usually around the base of the neck - scabies are a skin mite, that live in and on the skin. BOTH are extremely contagious.

Scabies are passed by prolonged, skin-to-skin contact with a person already infested.

Lice are passed by Head-to-head contact with an already infested person, or by anything that touched their head and then touched your head. Hats, pillows, clothing.

And that is today's biology lesson.

Eradicating lice or scabies is a job for hazmat.
And no one is immune, I know the immediate idea is that someone is unclean, but they may have just been to an unclean place. And since it is a undertaking to rid them, people that don't take getting rid of them seriously can create a real mess - and a day care. Yikes! If one family keeps bringing it over and over....

My daughter got them a few times in elementary school and she was NOT DIRTY. In fact, the Dr. told us that they were attracted to her clean hair because dirty, rreasy hair is sometimes harder for them to attach to. Anyway, someone finally told me to put coconut oil on her hair, so I bought some coconut conditioner, took her outside and combed it through her hair and picked all the nits out- It worked!

Tea tree oil shampoo is also great for keeping lice way. They lice do not like that minty scent. Also it is very important with lice to clean everything. All the house bedding, pillows, etc. Take stuffed animals or any soft toys and place them in a well sealed plastic bag for 2 weeks! You need to give the lice and the eggs time to die. Also do do the lice treatment twice at least 10 days apart. The first treatment you will kill the lice, the next treatment will get any eggs that have hatched. Most people forgo the second treatment and spend a ton of time playing chase the lice.

This is primarily a hygiene issue because clean water is available for bathing in every home. It's ashame we have to live among such pigs in this day and time.

Lice I understand is in the head.Kids also get these things on there body.I was so under in impression, they come hand in hand. You can get Body Lice from Tanning Beds.So what is the difference there in your head and then on your body. That requires a perscription also to rid them from your body. They sell boxes that claim to get rid of head lice,You go to the Doctor and make sure you get the best that will rid your child of these Lice and body lice.It is more annoying than anything. They do say you can be the cleanest person around but you are out in public with the nasty people and your child get's them.Annoying like I said more than anything.

Yeah, I got the lice education from my step children, we would clean, they would go home to moms and come back with them again and again. Finally, we told their mom they weren't coming home until her house was rid of them. It was so sad.

Scabies is a bug that you can't see. In fact, I have read that one person can spread it to an entire community if they do not know they have it. If they expose their family to it and have friends over to spend the night- it gets spread to their families etc. It keeps going and going. People do not even know they have it. Once they go to the Dr., they have already been around a lot of people.

I agree. It becomes a major problem. People don't even know they have it. They spread it and it keeps going from family to family to family. Also, some people that get it, don't tell friends and family and they should!! They are just going to continue to get it as it keeps spreading. Your skin gets itchy especially at night. Sometimes people have it for years and just think it's allergies. I know! That is just crazy!

One tip on avoiding lice is to use hair products. Either put some gel in their hair, or a slight mist of hairspray when dry. It prevents the lice from adhering to the hair. And goes to prove, lice do not like dirty hair.

Blacks are not likely to have them because they have no shanks its like pubic hair on there head. You can still be happy if your hair is nappy see no lice and that is a good thing.

Also, they attended afternoon daycare after school so they could of picked it up there. The Dr. told the parents it could of been passed on at school or at the afternoon daycare. It's just hard to determine where.

This is where the kids are getting them from the day care. They are supposed to clean and disinfect everything but they cannot be bothered. It's a pain, the teachers send home the blankets the kids use and you have to throw the pillows away. They sleep on these roll up mats that have sheets on them but never ask you to wash them.I would be glad to,I don't believe the School is washing them.It seems every month they tell you another outbreak and won't tell you what kids had, have them so I ask my G.Daughter what kids are missing this week in pre-K she knows and it glad to tell everything they know.Out of the mouth of babes. As I SAID EARLIER IT IS THE SUNSHINE HOUSE IN HIRAM.They also have one in Douglasville,Dallas.
