I haven't read all the details, so I could be wrong here. At first glance, it sounds like our president is attempting to close Guantanamo. That would be a good thing.

They wouldn't like it here. There is no way they could be as radical as all the racist dumbass old-south crackers living here. They would feel quite inferior, and that would make them sad.

So, now that I'm done making stupid comments with you..

what the hell are you talking about?

The Fed will be very lucky if everything doesn't get thrown out and they walk.

There is no good that can come from beinging them to a USA court.

They are not going to walk. It is time we bring them to trial. The U.S. believes in laws and justice. They will face justice in the same arena where they practiced terrorism.
Of course, they could bring them to Douglas County since we will have a new 150 million $$$ facility that we will need to fill up. But, our Douglas County justice system can just keep on doing the same thing they have always done and fill that jail up. They arrest and charge, then hold prisoners in jail for several years before they ever come to trial. Actually, I think Douglas County had to pay out about $150,000 over a lawsuit filed against Sheriff Earl Lee over holding a prisoner for a couple of years with no trial. I'm surprised that we have not had more lawsuits (for the taxpayers to have to pick up the tab) over that same thing.

There are a lot of people that wave their right to a speedy trial because of disclosure issues. If everybody actually followed through with their right to a speedy trial they wouldn't sit in jail waiting for a trial date. They would be in jail serving time!

The reason why the charges will be dropped is because of how the defendants were handled during their interment at Gitmo and other places. It is the CIA, FBI and Bush administration that will be on trial IMHO. The defendants were being held as prisoners of war, which is very different than being charged for a crime against society.

A military tribunal was totally justified in this case. The only reasons to bring these terrorists to NY is to A) Provide the radical left with a public platform to further attack Bush administration policies B) Provide a platform to further attack
U.S. Mideast policy C) Making it appear to the rest of the world that these guys get a fair trial while giving them the opportunity to be acquitted due to a
technicallity.

The Obama administration has taken the position that, at present (for reasons I'm not quite sure of), there are no prisoners of war; there are suspects in crimes, including the crime of murder, by destroying the twin towers. With that position, the only thing which can be done with the suspects is to bring them to Ameican soil to stand trial on the charges. This seems to be saying there is no international terrorism involved, no war nor warlike activities which would justify holding someone as a prisoner of war.

My biggest problem with this is, the administration is saying we will ignore the Constitution as far as the citizens of the nation are concerned, yet we will apply the constitution (unduly) to non-citizens captured in a military action in another nation. Right is wrong, truth is a lie, good is bad.

As far as trying them in New York City, that's reasonable when we accept the rest. After all, that's where the "allleged" crimes took place.

I believe the administration is throwing the case, frankly, since most of the damning evidence was obtained under duress of what we're now calling torture. That evidence is being tossed.

9/11 was not a crime, it was an act of war. The criminal justice systme has no jurisdiction over this, it falls uner the military justice system. This is like bringing the Nazis to the United States to stand trial for their parts in the Final Solution.

There are problems concerning money today, especially if someone thinks they aren't getting their fair share of it. Mars turns retrograde in your house of public matters, so issues from the pat will need to be dealt with in weeks to come. Sort things out quickly, before they become even more fraught.
