Shore Patrol: Spat brewing over aftermath of wetlands grading

Full story: Long Beach Press-Telegram

Read the full statements from Tom Reeves and John Fentis on our Green Notes blog Despite all the rumbling thunder by Long Beach City Hall officials last spring, environmentalists complain there's been only showy steam following the grading of what they consider to be a sensitive habitat buffer at Los Cerritos Wetlands.

The decision by City Manager West to lodge a complaint with the Coastal Commission is a prudent one. We have a process in this State that oversees how coastal lands are developed. Hopefully, the Coastal Commission will conduct the appropriate investigation which the City Departments have not conducted and there will be appropriate sanctions for the acts allegedly attributed to Mr. Hitchcock. It would be very interesting to examine the views of the nominees for the vacant Coastal Commission seat on this very important issue. The Coastal Act is constantly under attack and is always in danger of being compromised and diluted by the well organized opponents of the Coastal development process. The nominees should give the citizens some idea of where they stand relative to individuals who blatantly disobey the process and engage in work without appropriate permits

City Prosecutor Reeves is part of Long Beaches problem in regards to enforcing laws and city codes. His non-prosecution of all but high profile crimes are impacting our entire city.
It would be wise for residents to vote Mr. Reeves out of office in April. It doesn't matter who his replacement will be. Voters need to send the message that they are not happy with the City Prosecutor's office conduct and will remove that elected official if they choose to not enforce the law as promised.

Mr.Fentis's views set forth in the above post as and in the article, support my view that" perhaps we should consider contracting out the work of both the
City Prosecutor(untrained in criminal law, spends to
much time complaining why he can not do something;sans parking fines/speeding tickets would be hard pressed(because of lack of experience in
criminal law)to find something to do)as well as the
work of the City Attorney to the new City Attorney for the City of Los Angeles who aggressively goes
where the untrained and timid Mr. Reeves refuses to
tread.

The person responsible for the grading of the wetlands area should be prosecuted to the fullest extent possible and not just slapped on the wrist.

Daily Horoscope for December 11

Leo

If you look closely, you'll see a black cloud hovering over a loved one's head. They'll find the smallest excuse for losing their temper or throwing a tantrum, so tiptoe around them or try to jolly them out of their filthy mood. If the situation continues you may decide that it would be better to get the inevitable argument out of the way than to pussyfoot around them any longer.
