Ellet teen club ends dances after melee

And these kids nowadays wonder why they have no places to go. This is a perfect example and answers all their questions.

Stupid Rich Ellet Punks. I bet there where some stupid Springfield punks there too. I say we close Ellet down and throw away the key. This wouldn't happen in Kenmore.

It's sad when teens (and adults) can't go to a dance and control behavior. For generations teens have complained that "there is nothing for us to do."

These kids had a nice place to go on a Saturday evening and have a good time. It's really sad that the kids of today cannot conduct themselves in a better manner. The owner of the club has done a nice deed for these kids and this is what he gets in return. Where are the parents???

Given the the neighborhood where this happened, it speaks for itself. It always seems to come down to one specific socio-economic group that has these problems, doesn't it?

this article didn't provide much information. I'd like to know what was behind these fights. Was it gang related? Drugs or alcohol involved? Were they all white kids from the same neighborhood that began fighting for no apparent reason?

first of all all people in ellet are not rich. I live in Ellet and I am not rich. My kids ages 5 and 7 attend pronios on friday nights and they love it and I think it is a good place for kids. It is really sad that older kids have no home training so when they get out they really act a fool some parents need to take an interest in there kids and things would not be ruined for other kids.

To try and have something for teen youth is commendable to say the least. When I was a teenager there were dances at a number of places on Friday & Saturday nights and all was peaceful and fun. Too bad a few bad eggs have to spoil what should have been a fun time for teens to gather and socialize and dance. Isn't that the way it goes. A few spoil it for the many. Again thank you for giving it a great effort.

this is all because these suburban punks have no respect for anything. they are spoiled by absent parents who worry about how much money they have and what new car they are going to buy.

This is sad, some ruin it for others, we have kids from a different parts of town coming over to this nice neighborhood and starting trouble, that is what has really happened here! i feel sorry for the business owner and the children who look forward to going there, including my son, which will no longer be able to attend the dances.

It was not the ellet kids that did this, it was kids from another area.

The posters claiming that kids from other parts of town ruined the dances are not far from the truth. You have had kids coming to this establishment in Ellet from as far away as West Akron to hang out. Some of these kids are thug and gangster wannabees, and they don't respect the neighborhood (or their own for that matter). Inevitably, problems like this result, and it most likely had very little to do with the kids who actually live in the Ellet-Springfield area, the ones who actually respect the community where they live and grew up.

The owner did what he had to do in shutting the 15-18 dance down, which is too bad, because kids really don't have much to do in Ellet, or anywhere else around Akron for that matter. It's a shame how a few selfish wannabe gang-bangers can ruin the fun for everybody else.

Thanks, Joe Pronio. You continue to be a good neighbor in Ellet. It was smart to wand these kids and smart to shut down potential trouble. I hope you do continue to hold events for the younger teens. They have no place to go for supervised fun. I could not blame you if you shut down all teen events, but I applaud your common sense and strength. For those of you who are criticizing Ellet teenagers, remember the Firestone Park hoops. Those kids had to go somewhere and where else but someplace they could raise a little hell? There was no trouble at the Pronio dances until this week and all of a sudden there were kids there the Pronios didn't know. Think about it.

No, it was not the kids from Ellet that did this. My brother has been going there for months and when it was just kids from Ellet it was fine, this past week there were kids from all over Akron and THEN it got out of hand. The police and management handled it well because it could have gotten worse. The best thing that Joe can do is to make it a private club for kids that prove themselves to be able to handle being there!

You have no idea what your talking about. First of all, it wasn't the Ellet kids that were invloved.It was your cute liitle Kenmore "gangs" that caused the problem. And the majority of Ellet is NOT rich.

Do you even know where Ellet is? It had nothing to do with the area. These were kids from another area that caused the problem.

No, these kids were many blacks that can from a different part of town. I have heard that there was more to this, such as weapons were involved but none of this was mentioned in the article

Its a good thing he closed down. but my fact is if it werent for the ghetto moving in and reuining things there wouldnt be any problems.
