I have heard rumors that Kia will not hire people previously employed with Ford Motor Co. because of their affiliation with unions. I hope this is not true. I have lots of automotive experience but I have not gotten a call. Has anyone from an automotive plant been hired? Also, does anyone know how many previous assembly workers have they hired already?

simple way of life what rock have you been sleeping under lately there is nothing simple about family life these days sweetie i will for one will be applying to work at that plant and its an hour plus to get there nothing at all in these scary times is easy unless you living on a phat trust fund !!!!!!!!! wake up and welcome more jobs anywhere they wanna put em

I live in the area that is being evaluated for this plant and cannot express my unhappiness that a rural area with many family homes will be destroyed for big business. With so many empty industrial parks in both West Point and LaGrange, why choose to destroy the quiet community and ruin the simple way of life many families who wanted to get away from the city and now find it coming and forcing its way into our lives.

...in the end, nothig will be done with the worker in mind, in this country, is all about the dollar.
The gangsters in Washington make sure of that.
KIA is a new bilge pump in a sinking boat out of control. The middle class is history in this country, get used to it, nobody cares about the blue collar worker.
This country has been ruined by greed and lack of common scence.

It concerns me that the local and national media portray the KIA project as a 'Safety First' workplace. It concerns me that local people adopted into the Kia circle portray it as a 'Safety First' project when they have first hand knowledge of the real truth. Maybe they do not want to bite the hand that feeds them? KIA and their Construction Management Company, Amco, are concerned about nothing except schedule and budget. No regards at all to the safety of the workers. The death a few months ago is 1 example. Other incidents may not have made it to the public eye, but please know that other incidents or 'near misses' have occured resulting in injuries, and this project has a potential of more deaths and serious injuries because Kia is focused only on schedule and budget with no regard to safety or quality of work. If you are thinking of applying for a job at the Kia facility I would like to ask you to please be concerned about your safety and be concerned if the buildings are sound and safe to work in.

I heard 650 by the end of this year and 650 by the end of 2009. This will be enough to start up the first shift. Once the plant is up and running additional people will be hired to start a second shift. The guy that called yesterday said that once the second shift starts all production workers will rotate between the two shifts.
