No it's not. It's a small town with not a whole lot of residents or jobs but it's not trash. Stop trying to start shit.

These teens that came from that church came to help build one in New Tazewell. I have lived here my whole life. There are poor people.. 30% of the people in New Tazewell are below the poverty line. With 22% of people in the entire county below it..I have never seen a child eating from a trash can, but still this place is poor..

many comments made about claiborne county ,as to the truth of them ,none at all, there is work here if you look for it,for some its hard to find work though, but still a much better place to live in than knox county or surrounding area,s,for those who have actually visited claiborne county and seen what it,s actually like, i doubt you,ll agree that were as backwards as people would have you think we are,and as to the comment on kids eating from trash cans, i have yet to see that happen, theres help here for anyone who needs it,all you have to do is ask, i have been here most of my life now and its a pleasant place to live,as to the comments about charlie bob,one thing most people dont know about him is he,s a very talented artist, and has a photographic memory,i have seen his drawings and some of them should be in museums, its a shame we cant apreciate people for what they are instead of what we want them to be,another thing i will add, theres more millionaires living here than in most places combined, the old farmer you see in coverall,s dont be to quick to pass judgement on them, they may be better off than you are, thats my opinion on the matter.

Isn't it amazing that people notice how many rich folk that there are here, but what have they done to help out the poor around here?? You'd think there might be a community center, maybe some place for single mothers to take they're children while they are going to night school to improve they're lives? Maybe nicer parks? Where are these people investing they're money? It's no wonder stories like this are being written when people in this county have this "fend for yourself" attitude. Its like they look at poor people and think..."I got mine, you get your own", and then they complain about being so lonely. It's pitiful!!

they spend their money here and pay taxes, its not up to them to pull us out of the mess were in,since the developement of all the new community,s has taken place most businesses here have seen a gain in sales, true not all money is spent here, theres money to be made here if you look for it and its legal money, one doesnt have to lie steal or cheat to make an honest living here, true you may never get rich, but what is money any way? except a product that we use for trade, right,we just have to earn it,if you want nicer parks and community centers go talk to our county mayor,or the town governement, what little there is of it,i have to admit we have the worst people in the highest positions of any town i have seen, thats whats wrong with the county not the people living in it,poor leader ship can ruin any town ,this one included, you bring up a good point thoug but fail to mention who,s responsibilty it is to see that claiborne couty is being taken care of,next time its time to vote we all need to remember what happens when you vote for friends, being opened minded makes it a little easier to live here also.

The title of these thread kinda upsets me. We may be a poor commuinty but we do believe in God. Just because we are not a big city doesn't mean we are stupid.

i agree with you crystal, people here arent stupid nor are we ignorent either, but lately we been portrayed as being so,true were not a big town but maybe we dont want to be like knoxvile with a high crime rate and all the other problems they have to put up with,i wonder if anyone has stopped lately and looked back and seen what a lovely place we live in and how lucky we are,i seriously doubt it,theres such a variety of people living here now that i think it makes claiborne county one of the best places around to live in,to bad we spend all our time complaining instead of enjoying what we have.

Daily Horoscope for December 8

Aquarius

This is a good day for getting on with chores and mundane tasks. You'd much rather get them out of the way than have them hanging over you for any longer than necessary. What's more, you don't want to waste your time by doing things in the wrong order or by being so slapdash that you have to do something a second time. You're setting a terrific example right now!
