LocalDude, yes there are people that want to govern our town, problem is, the current Mayor and her buddies are not looking forward to the April meeting because they will have a hard time answering some financial questions. The current administration has failed to file 3 quarterly reports to the State and they have not paid Court fees to the State either. The Mayor feels if she can put off this meeting (without answering any of these question) Then she can get the people she wants on the council, she wont look bad. Simple as that!!

Why, of course! The big blow-up with the municipal court was All the newspaper's fault! That explains everything! Never mind that the newspaper accurately reported the audit was being sought. Mr. Galloway tried to make it sound like the paper was taking sides, when it sounds from what the judge was saying that HE was the one taking sides.

Mr. Galloway is not a bad guy, he is just naive. He believes everything he is told. The Mayor is a con artist. She can convince her followers everything is just peachy, when infact the sky is falling. I find it funny how Judge Craig has worked for Lone Oak for 10 years with no problems, then after the new Mayor is in office for 12 months, and the Judge calls the entire administration "shady". Judge Craig is EXACTLY right....shady is a good word to describe them. The newspaper reported everything about the State Audit correctly. The Mayor and her staff lied to them and to everyone inquiring inside City Hall the day the story broke.

I don't live in Lone Oak, and know none of the people involved in this personally. But I've been reading the stories (funniest stuff I've read in a long while) and Mr. Galloway has taken the time to slam our newspaper here in Greenville (which occasionally makes mistakes, but on the whole does a good job) on multiple occasions.
And, when Judge Craig calls him on his inaccurate postings on his own website, Galloway apologizes, a credit to him for doing it publicly, but also takes yet another shot at the local paper. Why? Grow up!

You are right, Galloway did take another shot at the paper. Wise man one said never mess with a guy that buys ink by the barrel. Funniest part about the whole thing is all the crap he was putting on his forum was information he gathered from the Mayor and Twilia Parker.....they threw him under the bus so dang fast. lol...Galloway was warned about the Mayor and her buddies but refused to listen. He's got two long years to look forward to.

Go to Mr. Galloways website www.loneoaktx.org and read that idiots letter to the editor submitted yesterday. Someone needs to tell that man that when you find yourself in a hole the first thing you do is put down the shovel!!

It will continue to be this way until that ignorant Mayor goes back to cutting hair full time. This is what happens when you run shady deals and tell the paper to butt out. lol What an idiot!!

It just keeps getting better and better ...

You know, it really doesn't matter why the newspaper wants the information, the city is LEGALLY required to make it available, or tell the paper why not. The reason why Lone Oak is always in the headlines of the Herald-Banner is because the city has done neither one. They have not only ignored repeated requests for the documents, they instead want to have a little "get together" with the local media (according to the Lone Oak Newsletter) to extoll all the virtues of the city. When the Herald-Banner editor was unable to attend the meeting, the council turns around and continues to slam the newspaper during a public meeting, which still doesn't get them off the hook for not providing the requested information which they are LEGALLY REQUIRED to provide.
Yes, Lone Oak is having money problems (name one city, small or big, in Texas, which isn't). Perhaps it would be better if the citizens of Lone Oak could learn exactly how bad those problems are, from someone other than the city itself.

Local Dude I couldnt agree more. The Mayor and her crew have been lying to the paper, lying to the citizens. Lies, Lies, Lies....thats all you will get from Mayor Willis. She has no clue what she is doing, so now she is having to go out and play cover up and try blaming others. When the last election was coming up, she and her supporters passed out a flyer saying Lone Oak was fine, yes we owe the State money, but we have it set aside for them. "They told us not to pay it" Now, she states that, thats why we are having trouble paying outstanding bills????? Get your story straight. If she had the money reserved for the State, why is she having trouble now that its been paid. Come on Mayor Willis, come clean. Its okay if you cant handle the job, just get out of the dang chair and let someone thats capable take over before you take us all down.
