My husband, Randy Lamb, and I visited St Thomas this past summer. We were lucky enough to meet the postmistress of your post office. She is an excellant ambassador for your town. Randy's great great grandfather was George Washington Phelps. According to family history and your town yearbook he laid the first nail in the first building of St. Thomas. We know there were relatives of the Phelps in St. Thomas until June 2006. If anyone has any news of the ancestry of George and Fannie Earl Phelps it would be appreciated. Deanna loaned us her copy of the town yearbook. We are treasuring it, slowly. We cannot believe her generosity to two strangers. St. Thomas is lucky to have her.
