Now everybody post their most sad sagas in life so we can start another nice long thread similar to "Words Reopen Scars at CCSU." Who's going to listen to my sad saga? I say a statute of limitation on rape of three years. Thanks Courant for another tear-jerker.

What an amazing story. Ms. Seccuro is certainly entitled to an apology and to justice. And Mr. Beebe seems to have cruelly used her twice - the second time in trying to soothe his conscience without consequences.

This rapist should go to jail for a long time. He contacted the victim to relieve his guilt not to get her forgiveness. How dare he? My heart goes out to this poor woman. She's been thru enough misery & pain. The rapist needs to be punished no matter what the "bleeding hearts" think.

Wasn't this just a Lifetime Channel movie?

"But she had forgiven Beebe. Couldn't she forgive and still want justice?"
No. Either forgive him, or hang him like he deserves. But if you are going to forgive him. When you say you forgive someone, but then proceed to punish them, you've only sought cheap grace for yourself. It's not really forgiveness, just an empty word.
They guy's denying it now, which shows a huge lack of contrition on his part.
DON'T forgive him. Or at least don't claim to have.
Hang him high.

#1 Post, you are indeed crazy! The rapist should go to jail for a long time. No statute of limitations for rape. As written, this poor woman was raped by more than one and it took how many years to learn that?? What about the others that attacked her that night?? Good for you Ms. Seccuro, justice needs to be done!

Wow, as a rape victim myself, good for her, as a recovering addict myself, good for him.I know how it is to have the control taken from you as well as giving it up through chemical fixations. Hopefully all will repent and release the truth. Wish them both a lot of luck.thanks for posting this story, Both sides have touched me deeply

Oh as for the answer to forgiveness vs justice, tough question. It would seem you cannot have both but in this case both are justified. If he falls off the wagon wouldnt more women be in danger? Shoudllnt he be listed as a registered offender? How many other women will come forth by seeing justice done? How many such as myself have never sought or will not seek justice because of disbelief? It is too late for me but maybe not for another reader.Truth is better in the light.

It is a horrible thing that happened to this girl and much was taken from her in the prime of her life. She has to forgive totally to be right with Jesus and to be forgiven for her sins. This is the only way she can be saved and enter into heaven. When you forgive someone, you don't necessarily forget or even have to like that person, just pray for them and forgive them to be right with your Holy Father.

How can you consider two years justice . When this will probably haunt her forever.

You've heard the old cliche: if a man rapes you and steals your bicycle, what will they convict him for: stealing your bicycle. Man, we haven't come far at all in 40 years. And you can thank the scumsuckers - I mean lawyers - and mental deficients - I mean judges and juries - for this descent into the past.

Wow! An amazing story. This cautionary tale should be shown to all concerned with the admonition that if anything happens do only one thing first: Call the cops and get to a hospital. Let the authorities deal with school officials and human resources departments. Remember, cops first because if you go to someone else first you will not get a fair shake. And cops hate to get second-hand cases. They want to be in control from the start. And further, if you get a letter from the perp 22 years hence do not start a correspondence. Turn the letter over to the cops. Get it? Cops first always. Dial 911. That is what we pay our taxes for so that the police can handle these matters. Get a tattoo on your ankle that says: First Stop 911 Cops.

First my father, next a neighbor, then two teens with an older guy, then our youth minister, first husband used and abused me, second husband better but unable to give emotionally, present husband tries his very best, he too a victim of abuse. I try so hard to heal and forgive, sometimes I do well and sometimes I self abuse. My saving grace is Sarah, my counselor who makes me feel I am of value. I'm going to keep on trying to find happiness and show others that no matter what has been done to your body you still have your dignity.

wow, that is a powerful story. as a man a falible one. also a christian. i have to say i understand the power of forgiveness. i've never robbed/stolen/raped or done anything so egregious. it think what he did was horrible and awful. does it deserve some secular punishment??? yes. but i also think that there should be some leniency due to the fact that he seems sincere and has been recalcitrant. he knows the error of his ways. i feel he's no further danger as long as he stays sober. I do not excuse him for the alcohol. that was also his choice. much as it is with a drunk driver that injures/kills innocents. but most of those folks remain in denial, whereas this man is not. just my two cents.

well after reading the posts here i have two things more to say. first, the person that made the first post. seek help you are a problem waiting to happen. second, after careful thought and consideration i would have to agree that i think the perps primary motivation was to alieve self guilt. so it's not easy to forgive. but i'm not the victim and wouldnt judge. if i was though i think i'd want the full measure of justice.

No help for Crazy Rapist Guy.(Cash only.) He does, however, have a solution to this debacle/conundrum: The perpetrator should be given the option of two years prison or marrying Ms. Securro, for better or for worse, in health and in sickness,... for a minimum of five years. She cooks, he does the dishes. Wipe that smirk off yer face, mister! This is how we do it in Virginia. Rape is an anagram for pear (?).
If he shows up for the wedding drunk, he gets cited for MUI, "marrying under the influence." God is dog spelled backwards. Come on now sports fans, you can do better!
