I couldn't seem to start a new thread. I know a good single parent works hard 40 hours per week 3rd shift at a local factory through a temp agency. This person has yet to be hired on yet they have been a perfect employee for 4 months now. No drugs drinking or smoking. Has applied for families first and housing services and was denied both because this parent "makes too much". Now after reviewing this persons budget including gas, rent, daycare, etc ... He is going in the hole $3 per month and we didn't even factor in food or diapers. He lives modestly, doesn't even own a microwave drives a small older car good on gas and rent is only $300 month! We have given what help we can until he gets hired on to make more money but tell me WHERE THE HECK is the help in this county for good people WHO ARE REALLY TRYING???!??!? Any suggestions on temporary help services would be great. Food help, utility help, rent help or daycare help. ANYTHING AVAILABLE FOR NON DRUGGIE NON LOSERS HERE??????

It does seem like it's hard for those who try the most to get ahead. Hopefully, he will get hired on full time soon, but a lot of the factories here hire very few people full time. If it doesn't work out soon, he should try another job. Does he at least qualify for food stamps? I know there are a bunch of druggies in this town that get hundred of dollars in food stamps every month then trade them for drugs and their kids go hungry. Surely someone who is working can get some help. Does he have an income tax check coming soon? There are several churches who will help with food, clothes and some will even help with utilities. St. Alphonsus is a good one and maybe the Linary Church of God. Good Samaritans may have some funds and Ralph Reagan at the Bread of Life may help too. The Crisis Pregnacy center may help with diapers and baby things if he has a baby. The health department does sliding scale health care for children and adults. Does he qualify for WIC? Their income guidelines are much higher than public assistance and a lot of people qualify for WIC even when they don't qualify for food stamps. It's a lot more than just baby formula.. Those are really just temporary solutions, but may help until something better comes along. The heating bills will go down eventually. I hope he finds help soon. I'll have him in my prayers tonight.

Most of our federal and state officials are republicans and they are cutting all kinds of help for the poor. You will only see this problem get worse and worse. So far they have cut unemployment, food stamps, school lunches, retirement for soldiers and veterans. Now, even though the congress has passed a budget, they are talking about shutting down the government again over the debt ceiling.
If they have already approved the budget why are they not going to raise the debt ceiling to pay for the budget they have already approved? Because they are idiots!
Folks in need who vote republican are cutting their own throats and their kids throats! Do not do it!

Speaking truth... what are you thinking? All this prez has to do to create
more jobs than there are folks looking for one is allow small business folks to not be taxed so hard, let them hire with wages that they can afford and if those looking don't like it then look somewhere else. This dictator does not know anything except run around the world trying to be a rock star and looking forward to be a sports commentator.
If it were not for all the free stuff (not his own money, it is yours and mine) his approval rate might be 0 instead of 30 per cent.
Raise the budge?t...Hell man.that don't pay the bills.
