The New City Hall is moving forward as planned. At August's City Council Meeting, a new phone system through Frontier was approved as well as a Wireless Microwave Link. The biggest purchase came with the new blinds and shades.$10,443 will be spent on blinds and shades for the lobby and office areas and $21,510 will be spent for electronic shades for council chambers. Councilman Boyd Wyatt stated that he is looking down the road 40 to 50 years and he wants to "do it right the first time" with the blinds and shades to prevent replacement in the near future. Why not spend the money on more jobs, and ways to help the citizens. I am sure one of the board members can go around and put the blinds down, or the janitor.

Stop the madness!!! If any of you can produce the same results for less money then by all means please submit your proposal to the City Council. There is one thing about this "little podunk town:" we sure do love a bargain. Maybe some of you fine, upstanding citizens could dig through the Habitat Store's junk pile and find the blinds there dirt cheep. Maybe you prefer the trendy, meth-head inspired, black plastic garbage bags taped inside all the windows. The bags are UV rated and should stand up nicely to the 40-50 year requirement suggested by Councilman Wyatt. Even more stylish is the ever popular, also meth-head inspired, rattle-can spray paint inside the widows. That may not stand up as well as the bags but the paint blocks a greater amount of light. Every office could keep a can tucked in a drawer. If ever there were scratches, that stuff is great for fast easy touch-ups. With all the windows blacked out the City could supplement it's coffers by using the great vaulted rooms to grow mushrooms. If the delicious round white buttons didn't bring in enough cash all would not be lost. The city could grow the purple skirted variety and make hundreds of thousands of dollars each year when the tie-dye army invades Tennessee for Bonnaroo. The distinguished council already has all the skills required. They would simply have to treat the mushrooms the same way they treat their constituents ie: Keep them in the dark and feed them crap.

If the city is blowing money left and right then how do you explain that fact that my city taxes DROPPED by 18 percent? How does that work?

Can anyone say that they have something that works from electricity, that has lasted for 40 to 50 years? I think not, this is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. They are just too lazy to get up and do it by hand. I can only imagine what the cost will be when they tare up!

Regardless of whether there is a janitor or not, they are too frigging lazy to get off their asses and open/close the blinds. What a waste of money and what a waste of air their lazy asses are.

Must be nice to spend our money on nonsense,it's time for change.facts are they tell us to shop crossville first, but have no problem putting a strain on local economy. By putting strain on local company's, by bringing out of town company's to do work. Double standards, and lack of community support,is what we as a community are dealing with.how many company's are having trouble, keeping enough work to stay in buisness? Didn't they even bribing a company from Knoxville to do there cleaning.shop here, but help other towns thrive, while in the meantime put our businesses out of work.enough said, this isn't what I want in the future of my town

Evidently our councilmen, Wyatt and Boyd are not very smart and are only in it for the money and prestige. They both know better. electronic stuff dont last for forty or fifty years. Grow up guys, one of you builds houses. What a stupid comment. Country music fan4life wrote: Can anyone say that they have something that works from electricity, that has lasted for 40 to 50 years?
