I think the Fighting Sioux should change their mascot name if these towns change their names...but until this happens ... I say leave everything as is and everyone should find more important issues to fight about.

Ignorance is not knowing when enough is enough. Ignorance is indulging one group at the expense of another. We have spent Billions, dollars that is, on the Indians be that Navajo or Sioux and they still don't amount to much. We should take away there money and let them fend for themselves. We should take away their free medical, tax exemptions and monthly checks.

Though it is not my place to interject my opinion regarding the UND's fight with the NCAA over the team's name, I only hope if it is changed that they get a better name than Dartmouth. They used to be the Indians, but now are called the "Big Green." I am not sure big green what? Or that green could be big... but I guess you get the picture. Good luck...

I just stumbled accross this site. I grew up in ND and attended UND. I never ever thought "Fighting Souix" as being offensive let alone racist. I am proud of the Indians of the Dakotas. I don't think the Indians find it offensive either. Just a lot of out of state do-gooders stirring things up.
