Former Tippecanoe County Councilman Ron Fruitt was killed in a single vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon near North Webster in Kosciusko County.A Fruitt was 72 years old.

I have known Ron for over 25 years. He always had a smile and a positive comment. Reports now say his wife Phyllis was a passenger and has minor head trauma. Our thoughts go out to the family and friends.

This is a tragic loss to our community and to the Fruitt family. It was in part due to Ron's support and belief in me that I ran for public office. Ron always had a smile and was very upbeat. I will miss him dearly. My condolences to his family.

Ron Fruitt was a warm, loyal, and funny guy...I have known him since my days at Purdue, 1969-74, when I worked for the residence halls as a Residence Hall counselor. He sort of "adopted" me and gave me some great mentoring, and we have remained in contact all these years. I am truly saddened by his passing. My thoughts are with Phyllis, and I hope for her full recovery.

I have known Mr. Fruitt for about 37 years and was totally sadden by the unexpected loss. My family and the Fruitt family lived on the same block for 17 years during the 70's and 80's and shared many happy times together. My parents and brothers thoughts and prayers are with the family in this difficult time.
