Are you people crazy or what??? I use to live in Pekin and thats what I want to see a bunch of drunk golfers out in public. I really dont think who ever came up with this is not thinking more revenue. More like more fun, park officials wont have to wait to go home for that can of beer at the end of the day. Come on look at the kids that you will be telling its ok to drink and some will get drunk. So then you will need the police to be on duty just in case, not to mention the law suites that can come up with this kind of thing. Sometimes I think you are tring your best to destroy Pekin. You already did that to the downtown area.

Yea because now the golf courses are going to be PACKED with inebriated people. That's where everyone will have to go because we all know they would rather go and pay for a few overpriced beers at the golf course than to just drink at home. Sounds like you just need a beer to me. |

Well, why bother hate to tell you this but I gave up drinking over twenty years ago. It was just a waste of money, but I can understand a person who wants a beer or so to relax. I just dont think it should be out in public, where kids will think its alright to drink. Kids tend to do what they see adults do.I always thought adults where supose to set examples for our kids.

Got news for everyone out there..... its actually harder to get drunk on the golf courses now. Before they started selling booze, people just brought their own. Yes, it was illegal, but it was overlooked. Now you have to buy their beer, and you can only buy one per person out on the course, and they stop selling it to you after the 15th hole.

Oh yeah let's not let kids see us drinking. Guess what, drinking is legal. If a kid chooses to drink one day when he/she is old enough that is their own choice. We might as well not allow people to drive because kids might do it.
|

Driving a car is a lot different than drinking. Driving a car wont make you a drunk for the rest of your life and take food out of your kids mouths. with your thinking why not do drugs in front of the kids, maybe they wont pick that up or maybe they will. Im just saying we all need to put a better foot foward when it comes to our kids and what they see us do.I dont think drinking out in public is a good thing, whether its a golf course or the local grocery store
|

Drinking is LEGAL. It is a persons RIGHT to drink. Granted, it is not their right to mistreat people, but correlation is not causation. I don't drink, I prefer cannabis, but I should be able to if I want to. |

Im not saying people shoudnt drink, I use to drink and in moderation its fine. Im saying we shouldnt do it in public where the kids are. I also use to smoke pot years ago, if it was legal Id probly go back to smoking it, but not around any kids. There are a lot of things out there that is considered legal, but doesnt mean its good for you. Everyone has a right to make their own decision, but kids seem to do it because they see adults doing it. They are not grown up enough to make a good decision that might effect them the rest of their lives

I agree drinking is bad and that children do not have the long term reasoning skills needed to make proper decisions. But we live in a free market and people can sell whatever they want. Children do not have to go to the golf course, if you don't want your kid to witness people drinking don't take them golfing.

Well, my kids are all grown and proud to say they dont drink or smoke, but then I didnt do it around them. I know lots of people who take their kids to golf, so they can teach them the game, those are the kids Im talking about. Me I never understood the game of golf, I often wondered what people got from hitting a little ball all over the ground. To each his own.one last thing they sell beer in bars, but kids arent allowed, could it be that its not good to have kids around a bunch of beer drinkers???

I thought this was about drinking golfers? not kids.
Maybe just what pekin needs is to ban walmart so kids don't have to see all the overweight scumbags who don't give a shit about themselves. Or how about mcdonalds? No more unhealthy eating habits for my little baby! The list could go on and on. Bottom line is people have a right to choose and it is your responsibility to raise your kids..not the states |

Im sure in most cases the people on the golf coure drinking will handle themselves in a decent way, but there will be some that wont. What about the young ones that go golfing with their parents or the ones that pass by in cars?? To the truth will set u free, you have a right to believe the way you do as I also have a right to believe the way I do. Nothing was said about the stae rising the kids, its the fact that parents should care enough to not put their kids in that type of situation. As far as the people at wal-mart, maybe they came from beer drinking families. Im sorry if I stepped on any beer bellies out there, just saying Im against kids being, put in that type situation. We are the grown ups ya know and should want better for our kids. Just look at the young people of today and how many are in trouble and they claim the drug problem has returned to the Pekin area and everyone wonders why?
|

So.... keep your kids off of golf courses! And away from Wal-mart and out of cars.. A city ordinance or the law implies the states' rule of law!
I don't have a "beer belly" and don't care about your kids.. You made 'em you raise 'em. And you if you want to take them Golfing...Teach them not to be what they see around them! |

if someone is causing a problem in public just contact the management and im sure it will be dealt with.

To the truth will set u free, I thought about not even answering you back. Had you of read the post. I said my kids were grown and people have a right to take their kids to public activities with out being put in that type of situation. You must be a [retty sad and ugly person to spout what you print. Im sure you dont repersent the majority of the Pekin people.I believe most of them are decent, kind people , unlike yourself. Anyway, I wont responed to anymore of your post, just dont like being around people like you and thats my right.

it's pretty rude aint it "Just what Pekin Needs"...people like this are the reason i'm moving out of this place..it's everywhere in this town. The teens, "adults", all rude as hell.
hell yesterday i got flipped off by this 16-18 year old girl because she cut a corner and almost ran into me???SHE almost ran into ME and she flipped me off???..lol. If you read this girl you might want to grow up before you flip off the wrong person and end up hurt...the characters in the bars these days..lmao..they all try to size you up and act all tough when really they are little peons that would end up in prison if they got in a bar fight because half the younger generation in pekin is on probation/parole. This town is definately not what it was when i moved in and ive lived in this are for 25 years, so i know what has changed...cant wait till the spring so i can get the hell outta this drama infested town. |

To Wouldnt you like to know, yes it is sad that our world has turned into what it is today. I havent lived in Pekin in a long time, but I have a lot of good merroies of it. Use to miss it so much, but when I seen what they did to down town and some of the things they are wanting to do, Im glad I dont live there. I wish you good luck in your moving, but in most cases people are rude no matter where you go. Guess us baby boomers didnt raise our kids to respect people and their things very well.Even the ones of us that did, there are too many who didnt and now its out of control. Hate to think what it will be like 10 years from now.
|

just what pekin needs.......... how 'bout some culture?..Education and variety of choice. These people are so like and "closed" minded this city, and the citizens, will never evolve. It's sad to see the city trying to move on up so to speak but the people are still stuck in a subdivision mentallity of racial tension and dead-end jobs....sad |
||||
sorry to offend you but, in my opinion, parents are the ones responsible..you obviously did a great job but to many people want to pass off the responsibility of their actions to a higher authority. and tour right. i dont represent pekin at all..thank god! |
||||
Oh yeah you won't find that anywhere else... |
