Not sure what you're trying to say.

The rebel flag signifies slavery and hate. Put it on your truck or trailer if you like, that's free speech, but not in a public school.

Why anybody has a problem with Blackcats I don't understand.

If Louis Coleman is all about equality, then where the hell is he when a "person of color" attacks a caucasion? Where was coleman and his bullhorn when a white guy in New Albany was shot dead in front of an apartment.
This blowhard is such a biggot himself. His hypocracy knows no bounds. He is there with his reverse predjudice every time a person of color has the wind blow in their face, decrying racism of the man, and the oppression of his people. But what kills me is that most of the people he marches for are killed in the act of committing a crime. But yet again he no where to be seen or heard when it is black on black crime, as statistics would prove most of the murders in Louisville metro have been.
Take a good look at your own life coleman, your thug drug dealing child in and out of jail.
And by the way, how long before he starts screaming racism because a predominantly irish catholic neighborhood is opposed to have 22nd street renamed to Martin Luther Drive?

If you will ask someone who was there when the school first started, you will find that the Rebel flag was not part of the mascot. The original Rebel held a banner.

Also, where did you go to school and how old are you? Please, use spell check and add some punctuation to your comments.

Who is it other than Coleman himself insisting that the people who live in Eastern Kentucky are racist? Mr. Coleman needs to wake up and smell the coffee. I attended and graduated from Allen Central High School. The school mascot nor the flag was ever presented as a form of racism at our school athletic events. It was never taught to the student body by the instructors as a form of racism. However, it was a part of the school itself. A form of school pride and heritage as a school. Allen Central opened its doors in 1972 to high school students. It opened its doors to all students regardless of their race, religon, age, ethnic background, and family status. Mr. Coleman is trying to destroy school pride for the students at Allen Central High School. He is the one who seems racist and living in the past. It's time to wake up and live in the present.

I could not agree with you more. Louis Coleman seeks out and creates the appearance of racism when ever he gets the slightest chance to do so. In fact I would venture to say that Louis Coleman and his "justice resource" gang are the biggest reason for the tensity in racial relation in the louisville metro region right now.

Wow, am I a glad I'm not as ill informed as some of these "rebels"...of course the flag was not "presented" as racist to you and your classmates, that's the entire point!! By making it seem innocuous it is easier to induce the simple minded to buy into it....hence you and your "rebel" classmates sincerely do believe it is not a harmful symbol(also problematic to society at large). The issue is laced with irony that is, it seems, way, way over your simple eastern kentucky heads. Do I think you are bigots on purpose? No! Does your bigotry, meted out daily in subconcious acts and clearly understand by those you oppress, cause harm and devisiveness? Yes! Want it to stop, to live in a world where people do not fear, hate and mistrust one another? You know that you do want this, because you are basically a good, if ill informed person. Then get behind the notion that people are hurting over this issue, and they want you to stop hurting them....take your flags down, the war is over and sorry, but you lost and now you have to pick your own cotton. Throw away your flag...(you can keep NASCAR if it makes you feel any better...we don't want it!)

Excuse Me!!!!! It seems that since people live in the Appalachian mountains of Kentucky that we are ill informed. You can slur my heritage however you wish. I am glad to have been born and raised in Eastern Kentucky. I would never choose to live in the city with ill informed arrogant bigots such as yourself. However, I was speaking as a former student and spoke the truth as to what my former high school is about. It definitely isn't about racism and slavery just because the confederate flag is a part of the schools' heritage. This school is full or hardworking young adults who are striving to build their dreams for the future. The activists are enthused on destroying the school pride, heritage, and enthusiasm of the students attending. It seems you need to spend more time in and around Eastern Kentucky maybe you would better understand that the majority of the people here are not at all like you are portraying us. I can honestly say that the flag is not used by the school for the purpose of expressing or encouraging fear, hate, and mistrust to anyone. The arrogance of your insinuations bewilders the truth of the matter. It's heritage not hate.

In that line of thought, I guess to appease the "everything is racist" crowd, we should also destroy and ban any flag from any state that ever condicted slavery....hold on wait a minute, when the stars and stripes were first created this was a slave nation, so I guess the "rebels" you are spouting about are not alone.
In fact George Washington had slaves, yet he is on our money, portraits in our schools as government buildings.
the damn line has to be drawn somewhere, and these groupd that go out seeking racism where there truly is none are more harmful to race relations than anything else that has occurred since the civil rights issue. If they feel the need to keep themselves victimized, thats fine, just leave the rest of us out of it.
By the way, while you tote about picking ones own cotton, you better make sure that the items you buy and use were not manufactured by child laborers, and endentured servants in some 3rd world shit hole.

Blackcat is a back panther. Black Panthers are a racist group against white americans. What about schools with the mascot Devil? They made us take out prayer in school, but leave the devil mascot to represent innocent children. Why pick on the rebel if you are not going to take a look at all mascots and emblems of public institutions. Before you comment sir I suggest you understand what you say or at least research it. You had no idea that the black panther could be offensive to white people. All you know is this is a poor hillbilly school that the big city people want to educate about their ignorance. Take a look in the mirror everyone out there that sayes this school should remove their flag. Eastern Kentucky people and the south is tired of the media, blacks yeah colors putting us down, calling us hillbillies and thinking it is a joke, but you get upset over a flag. That flag is not coming down for you for no one.

Way to Go Tilly!!!!!! Are you like myself and wonder who is paying the bill for Mr. Coleman to come to Eastern Kentucky and cry Racism and Slavery? Yes, Mr. Coleman is a cry baby, crying because African Americans were purchased as slaves? How many decades/centuries ago? Mr. Coleman fails to quote the correct figure of children born biracial. He fails to realize that the fact that if the Eastern Kentucky people were racist as he is crying so much about, then why are these children being born biracial? It surely isn't because of racism. It's because we live in Eastern Kentucky that he continues to taunt our region with racist comments calling our people crackers and hillbillys. I'm a hillbilly and proud of it. He claims that the stars and bars is hurtful to African Americans. I assume to those who wants to continue living in the past that it probably is. Mr. Coleman is always looking out for himself. It is Mr. Coleman who wants to continue the hatred, racism, and taunting in our society. However, it is not the students of the Allen Central High School student body that's being racist because the stars and bars has been used (and not in a defensive racist way)since the school was built and opened its doors. It is Mr. Coleman that is the racist. What I would like to know is why wasn't all this considered 35+ years ago when the High School was first opened? It's time to stop the crying to be politically correct and live in today's world. What happens to the Civil War Re-enactments? Do those also stop because Mr. Coleman says so? I don't think so.

Hey wait a minute here, My family "immigrated" from Scotland in 1772, they were "brought" to america as endentured servants paying off a debt that their forefathers owed.
Since endentured servitude what was then the political correct way to say white slave, by god I want re-embursment, I want preferencial treatment, I want affirmative action.
HOLY CRAP, I just realized that the Scot's were subjected to slavery and oppression as far back as emperor Hadrian of rome before England was even thought of, then by the english..so I want compensation from italy, england, USA...I will have to see if I can find who owned the ship that brought my family over here and sue someone else too.
Hell, its no wonder why I didnt get that dream job I wanted, I just didnt realize that I came from an oppressed people!
HEY COLEMAN:
history is full of inequity, if each person could research their geneology enough, nearly everyone on this planet is directly related to someone who was at one time or another a slave, a pleb, and endentured servant, or their ancestors had been oppressed and attacked by another group of peoples.
How many centuries after the fact is the cut off line to quit blaming your own personal failures on others?

Think about it this way..There are many ALL BLACK schools around this nation so why the hell isn't that racist? So whoever this Coleman is needs to stop bitchin about a mascot, cause there are way bigger problems dealing with race out there than a damn flag on a school wall.

what i think about the topic at allen central is that you should not get rid of the flag!!..i mean it has been there for years!...why change it now just b/c one person speaks their voice!..i mean i think that person should be heard but not always agreed with..no other black people that go to that school has complained about it until now!...and yea they are way bigger problems in the world besides a freakin flag!
