1 2) I'm not from but Crestview but have one of my homes there and "your facts are completely wrong" as the media is going to print the facts as I have given them the emails (from all sides) & investigative summary report. If you want to know more, then contact someone within the dispute and get some true facts before you spout off and look even more foolish than you already do; 3) You really need to be aware of your hurtful comments regarding persons who do live in & originate from Crestview as you are a coward from just posting with initials; 4) I had a sign and it supported the kids and my daughter plus we were walked out by a police officer that I had common interests with and also for the safety of the persons involved; 5) My daughter cheered that night and we were sitting there and NO ONE badgered any of the kids. 6) Since you state items from Friday nights game we have an idea of who you are, so feel free to contact us as our email is available to you with regard to your closeness of the events, that way you can actually have an idea of what really is taking place. Randall Edward Medard,
you tell someone to learn how to spell, however your comments are almost unreadable. You make no sense. I was actually in pain when I got done reading your post. Sounds to me like the coach is a cheerleading nazi. We have them all the time in schools. People/coaches/parents that think their sport or activity is more important than anything else. The coach should be dealt with by Brunson and Coleman. If the girl wants to try out...let her. As far as people acting all stupid...I do not know if that is true. If it is ...I am not suprised. People can sometimes act very stupid when it comes to their kids and sports. I guess it is the parents way of trying to make up for their own failures in the sports world. Let them play...let them cheer...and just shut-up. Crestview Cheerleading Coach....get a grip. |

My first attempt at posting a response apparently did not go through so here is a rewrite;
My comments are very readable, exceptionally clear, make sense, and are to the point. No one is saying anything about one sport being more important than another. The one girl you’re referring to was never restricted from trying out at all she just wanted to pursue another sport (due to college scouts potentially picking her) and elected not to tryout for cheerleading by her own choice, then changed her mind after cheer tryouts were done and over. In this dispute there are no parents making up for their own failures in the sports world or otherwise, but there are parents speaking out about the wrong doings that have taken place. There is one particular parent (of a completely different girl that you had not spoken of in your post) that started all of this. This parent was upset that her daughter had a poor performance when she tried out (witnessed by others) which resulted in a low score by the judges and she was placed on the (JV) spirit squad instead of the competition squad. The mother wanted her daughter to double letter so she started making false allegations about the coach in an attempt to get a 2nd tryout just to get her daughter on the (varsity) competitive squad and she succeeded (note: her mom is an employee of the school, knows how to play the system, and knows the right people). So she is teaching her daughter wrong by demonstrating that if you make enough of a disruption then you can get your way, instead of letting her daughter learn that if you don't do well you have to be responsible for your own actions (as we all have bad days, that’s life), practice, improve and try again next year. The coach is not at fault with either of these girls. The cheer mom that brought these false allegations against the coach and is questioning the coach’s ethics, well that very same cheer mom is a complete hypocrite as her own personal & professional ethics with regard to past dealings both at school & in the public arena are what need to be brought to the forefront and made common knowledge. When a person steps on enough peoples toes “over & over again” and takes advantage of individuals & situations, human nature is that when you finally have had enough then it’s time to fight back and that is what’s taking place; as the numerous calls & complaints have been suppressed by the school system for way to long and the parents have had their fill of this “cheer mom/school employee” and are doing something about it (this is not an isolated issue). You speak of pain; the girls that originally made the competition team during the 1st tryout have felt pain. When you listen to those girls speak of the 2nd tryout and hear their frustration, disappointment, and confusion for what they as individuals have worked so hard to earn only to have that taken away by one unhappy mom that manipulated the system and got her way, that’s pain. Hopefully you have a better understanding now and if not come out from behind your alias and I will tell you to your face, but that won't happen as you don't have what it takes to speak your mind in public except from behind a computer screen and that's where we differ. I can't wait to see your reply, if you reply at all; as I am sure it will be just as humorous as your last post. |

Well john parker, you have been quiet after your bold statement. When are you going to meet with me?

I am not sure how but I happened to stumble across this today. It irritated me to the point I had to reply.
Not true nobody said they could not try out. One of the two tried out but did not do well enough to make the varsity squad, the other chose not to try out so she could concentrate on softball until someone made enough noise to get her to complain she didn’t get the chance, she tried out made the squad then quit! Did she really want to or was she coerced into it?
This was not an investigation as much as it was an appeasement to keep the noise down about this. The other girls were railroaded by this so called investigation! I am one of these parents of which you speak, I am far from ignorant in any sense of the word, the facts are that this was not right and the wants of one or two were being dictated to the rest of the squad that followed the rules from the start and lived with the results. Being from Crestview it is clear to me that you truly do not know the type of people of which you speak. Nobody was badgering anybody, signs are an exercise of free speech (allowed in the US at the moment) if you do not like the signs and shirts you do not have to read them. The Majority of the Crestview population should be confined to avoid the inevitable inbreeding there?? You have really lost your mind with this one it actually lends an air of credibility to your previous statements Adolf would be proud of you! The only thing accomplished here was to offer up a bad example of how not to handle disappointment. But in this day of progressive socialism this seems to be the thing to do it is all about me the heck with everyone else! |

Let me start by saying I love this town and am proud to call it home, most of the time. I moved here over 10 years ago, but I still feel there is an element of "old clan like" people in the area who would rather "outsiders" just keep quiet or go away. After being here this long it is not hard to believe the scenario put forth by lkbtb. I've seen the ridiculous favoritism and clan like behaviors from some of the long time residents.
To say or justify that some signs are "an exercise of free speech" just sounds weak. No, I was not there, but if they were so benign or just supporting the team, why don't one of you post what exactly the signs said? Why were some of the people holding the signs escorted out of the ball game? Is it the kind of thing you would want your daughter or some other female family member reading? Or was it meant to just stir things up and make someone feel bad? Also, Randall, I had problems reading and understanding your first post as well. Sorry, it seemed a little disjointed. Then to threaten an individual posting, well that just makes you look like a backwards little boy who wants to beat someone up after school for not respecting your opinion. As an outsider, I think there must be some FACTS missing from this story. From BOTH sides of this story. If the kid was told they couldn't try out, and she actually should have been allowed to try out, then I am glad someone is bucking the system and pushing back about the bubba network. If this is a case of whiny mom and kid wanting special privileges and rules were broken to allow them a second chance, then bad on the school. If was a combination of whiny mom/kid and using the rules/laws to their advantage, well then I guess some of the parents or coaches need to just get over it or change the rules. Unfortunately my child has to attend this overcrowded drama school we call Crestview High. I have heard many in this town continue to fight breaking up the school and having two reasonable sized high schools because it might impact the football team or school band. Too bad there is such a concern about that and not about my child getting a good education. |

The football team is not that good anyway.
Break them up! |

I stumbled upon this exchange while looking into Crestview High.. My company is relocating me to the Panhandle and I had my heart set on Crestview because of the small town feel and the school districts rankings. I have 2 daughters who are both honor students as well as cheerleaders and dancers. If there is indeed an outsiders clause maybe I should rethink my move. Any suggestions?

Questioning, I understand your concerns, but as I mentioned, I love this town and I think as long as you come here prepared to get along and raise the flag when and if you see the "outsiders clause" as you put it, it'll be a good move. It is a small town but growing and as we grow the culture is diversifying. I think it's getting better all the time. I've been here more than 10 yrs now and see the good ol boy network less and less. We are starting to outnumber them, if you will and really, MOST of the people here are friendly and nice. It is the random few that caused me to mention that bubba network stuff. I decided to move here because of the same thought of a nice small town culture. My family is happy here. We have good neighbors and friends and people will help you out if they can (maybe we are becoming part of that network.. but I don't think we exclude anyone because they are new to the area, I look forward to new families showing up). You'll see flags on national holidays and a parade for homecoming even. It's a good place to live. My wife is a teacher at one of the schools. Yes, they have some of the top schools in the state in this county. High scores, etc.. Like I said, it's a good move.

When this girl is 20 none of this will matter and it is dumb that it matters now. We have teachers getting fired daily in this area, and we have coaches teaching classes they don't even know. This is a topic worth discussing. The kids here are taught that the only thing that is important is sports, and the parents act stupid with it. Sports are only going to help a very few, a good education will help the masses. Maybe this would be a better topic to worry about. Please don't spout off to me about how good the schools are here either. I have a daughter in high school her and owned a business in Crestview that came in a lot of contact with local teens. Most can't even fill out a job application. Florida teaches FCAT,
if that's all that matters, then yes we have great schools, but in the long run, its not going to help any of them. Parents leave this alone, its a stupid topic and just goes to further teach kids the wrong values about what will really be important later in their lives. |

You are crazy to put your child in a public school here. Crestview is the worst. All the schools teach is FCAT. That is ALL!!! Put them in private school or home school..they will get a better education. I promise you.
