Sounds like they need to put this senile old man in a home after he serves his time. Why do people think its alright to get guns out and start blasting away at animals. It said he called animal control the time a different dog came in his yard why didn't he just go in the house and call them again? People like this give people who use guns in a safe manner a bad rap.

That was a stupid thing to do. You should always contain your pet and not let them run around loose. The owners are just as guilty as the shooter in this pets death.

I'd say shooter 60% fault, owners 40% fault.

Being that the shooting was in the city limits, the shooter was endangering his neighbors. This does not mean the owners of the dog arent at fault. In the country this may have been gotten away with but is still illegal to do. Cats and dogs running wild are a huge problem. Years ago know said much about this but now animal rights groups frown on these actions. Cats alone kill thousands of birds and mammals. Dogs harm deer and live stock and the property owner legally can do nothing. When this man was born what he did was okay to do. Now it isnt. That isnt to say that it isnt still done.

The owners of the dog got what they deserved. They were irresponsible letting the dog run loose. They should be tried and found guilty of being stupid. Maybe our legislators, in their quest to regulate behavior, should make it a felony to be stupid. The guy was scared of the dog, and did what he thought was best, take the dog out.

I don't think it is OK that the man shot the dog. But had the owners kept the dog from running loose, this never would've happened. As a dog owner, I know it is my responsibility to keep my dogs safe. I have a fenced in backyard and have trained my two dogs to stay in the front yard without a leash. I also never let them out in the front yard alone, I am always with them.

This is an outrage. If your a pet owner then you know that even the best animal sometimes sneaks away. That's what they do. This is an eleven year old dog. Come on the shooter should be prosecuted to the fullest. What next a child that is bothering him.
