Who remembers the Village tavern?

I just wanted to know more about it. Someone told me its now Valentine's...but I wanted to know more about it. My Grandfather built it back in the 40's.

if it is the one in Springdale it is Valentines
It has been remodeled.
I was told by someone in the bar that a Made for tv movie about the Jackson family called "The Jacksons: An America dream shot some scenes in the bar and in Springdale

Thanks Mike!! I wonder how to find that Movie. I live in Florida so I never go to see the bar. Heard lots about it from my dad though. Do you know if the movie was filmed before or after the remodel?

YOU ARE AWESOME!!!! I was just saying to my dad ( who grew up in the bar) about you and how you gave me some great information about the movie...and I said "I wonder how I'd find that movie" and here you are again!! I appreciate you taking the time!!!

Stacey my family was from Harwick your dad will know where that is. by the time I was born we had moved to New Kensington. My dads folks still lived in Harwick and we we would visit every week.
I had a friend who lived in apartment that was on the ground floor in the same building as the bar. We would go into the village have a few drinks and play pool. The village was kind of run down at that point.

Tell your dad they built a mall near springdale township Pittsburgh Mills it is frazier township just off State Route 28 it will be open 2 years this August
The jackson movie is on VH-1 from time to time and I think it was on about 3 weeks ago

I have been near Plant city I was working at MacDill AFB during the first gulf war. I was not in the Air Force I was working for a communications company providing phone and data connection for the US Central Command between Macdill and the Middle east

Mike...thats neat that you used to hang out in the bar. Can you tell me about it? What did it look like?
Its funny, all these questions came about because I bought a coin off ebay for my dad. I wanted to get him something different for his birthday and I happened across a Springdale National Bank good luck coin, Springdale PA. It doesn't have the year on it so I was trying to find someone who knew when it may have been given out. Considering the bank is no longer around its been kinda hard. You wouldn't know anything about it would you?
So you have been to Tampa? Did you ever make it to The Strawberry Festival while you were here? Plant City grows tons and tons of strawberries and every year there is a festival. Its fun...I live just down the street. It lasts a week and there is plenty of strawberry something or other to eat!

The Village Tavern was THE place to go to hear live bands. It was always packed back in those days and people were crowded onto the dance floor. The floor was actually cement, but while a pool game may be on going, the place rocked during Wednesday's, Thursdays,Fridays and Saturdays...some of my
best dancing days were there; always could find friends who were there; Country/Rock/
it was The Village; also Mel's Village.
Yes, the Jackson's movie was shot there and it
is fun to watch it and see the stage and stairway to the downstairs...

wow, all of this talk about the Village Tavern really blows me away! Stacey knows who I am. I too lived in that bar with your dad, and am interested in anything there is to know about that place. Thanks everyone! keep writting and Stacey and I will keep reading.

Used to go to Village Tavern after bowling nite at Borrasso's . Delicious deep fried mushrooms. Lived at Garfield & orth where they rented home of my neighbor to use as Jackson family home.

Mike. They also filmed at the Krivan Club on arfield St also. I lived on corner o Garfield and North and they rent my neighbors house on other corner as the Jackson Family home. Village
tavern also had best deep fried mushrooms in the area. After Village Tavern it was named Joe & Ann's. Used to hang out in Harwick.

I use to stop in the village once a week after work and once in a while on the weekends

I had been to the Kriven club a few times but I never had the mushrooms. I also used to go to a bar near PPG that I can't remember the name.

I have been to bar that is there now and the chicken wings and other food used to great but not so much the last couple times I had been there.

Santos had a bar on Colfax st and Verhovays was originally located there also and then they built new club on Walters Lane. Village Tavern had the fried mushrooms not the Krivan. I belonged to Dutch Club on Grant St.

Miners Memorial-anybody in the Oakmont or Harmarville area have any updates on the Miners Memorial to be erected at the Harmar fire hall?

Yes it is Valentines...they cleaned it up, great food and still bring in good rock bands! You need to get up here to Springdale and visit!

my grandma uses to work there for many years 1960-1968 Agnes (birdy) bayne, we would go and get a pop waiting for her to get off work, nice place then for a kid any was
