"Officials said Barnard, who was handed over to Sixth Precinct officers and was also charged with hypodermic needle and weapons possession, has a history of drug and robbery arrests, records show. He was taken to Glen Cove Hospital after Wednesday's robbery attempt and will be arraigned when medically possible, police said."

Screw the "when medically possible", end this idiots addictions and crime spree by applying a bullet to the head.

I knew this person very well, and endured his drug addiction for a year. As a matter a fact I was speaking wt him the night before he did this. Put him in a mental institution, not jail. He wants to be in jail, thats why hes a repeat offender; he never felt comfortable as a functioning member of society, so he strives for what he thinks is an easier one. From what I understand he needs lots of therapy, and possibly medication. Putting him into jail will feed into the void he's trying to fill.

whatever. Thats coming from someone who hasn't even studied his behavior patterns, let alone met the person. If we went around just shooting the village idiots of our communities, we'd never understand the method to the madness; we'd just be disregarding entire souls based on shallow judgments instead of evaluating the actions and evidence. That's what neanderthals did.

You're right, whatever. As long as we have these "bleeding hearts" even considering trying to give these evil low sc**ums treatment, only puts gas on a fire. I say let's try to put the fire out. Serving prison time hasn't been working, rehabs too. You say give these people treatment, well let's go back to Shock Therapy and while they are at it you can hold this piece of human debris hand.

I understand that there are people who are lost causes; and it just seems like they'll be broken forever. Maybe they will. But if we just started eliminating people, it would not only mar our judgment, but violate human rights; we would keep pushing the envelope to justify why people should just be disposed of. According to statistics, therapy is effective in either a low or high degree depending on the circumstance. With the function of the sentence being "effective", its means that we're all capable, as long as we're human. We are not wild beasts, or cavemen anymore. We are a democratic community, with men that died for our rights to have a democratic community. Why would we completely throw that right away by thinking that we hold power to kill another human being, without considering the evidence and capabilities?

I would like YOU to show me and some other posters a true Rehabilitation of a heartless criminal into a human and then to a law abiding citizen.

What are the statistics?

Too many idiots in jail have way too much freedom. If a crime is committed, they you have lost rights as a free man. So off to prison they go and they want rights? Food, shelter and clothing that should be all they get. Remember I'm referring to hard criminals, repeat offenders who just "don't have a clue". No TV, no weights, No gangs. Too many amenities are given to these anim*als. They are in prison for a reason. It's prison Not a resort.

Yes, there is a place for everyone. Yes, we lose our rights once we violate the law. But again not as humans. I only speak from personal experience wt this person, and some things I have studied. So, I don't expect you or anyone else to understand. Its just my opinion and I stand by it.

Greenvale diner is a great establishment - clean, reasonably priced and great food. The owner is a nice guy and I am glad he protected his interests.

The Sea Cliff Coffee/Sushi place sucked and the owner was a dick who was ruining Sea Cliff. His brother is a dick too.

And the question of the statistics of rehabilitation of these so called people still exists, if you can't answer and you rely on knowing this idiot, think about if this "human" tried or attempted, or actually committed a rime against you or you family, would you still have the same idea of rehabilitation. I think not!

This person has committed crime against my family, and he should be kept away from normal society; im not against that.Again, this is my opinion based on my personal relationship wt him, something u couldnt even begin to understand, and its still a human rights issue if people start considering these people as just disposable. All I am suggesting is that a thorough investigation and diagnosis is given to people like Mr.Barnard. So your going to argue wt me when I know things about this young life that you don't?

Hey, Jaded, are you making yourself out to be a know-it-all. The better half of the story is how heroic the Greenvale Diner owner was in protecting his property by disarming the sociopath and not letting any of his customers get hurt.

Jaded: You stupid so-and-so. My uncle had his eye put out for life when his older brother aimed a B-B gun at him as a joke when they were kids. Fired once, nothing happened. Fired again, and a b-b loosened in the weapon to knock out his eye. So don't refer to a b-b gun as a 'harmless' thing. And don't characterize your so-called friend as a practical joker. You're the joke, pal, so go find a rock to crawl under. . .

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Sagittarius

Be careful about what you eat and drink today, my prancing Archer. Your body is in a sensitive state, so be well advised and steer clear of anything that might upset you, or to which you're sometimes allergic. Avoid anyone who's a one-man germ factory, in case a few bugs happen to jump out and over to you. Right now, you could do without it.
