Webster County Humane Society ??

Has anyone had problems with the woman that takes care of the webster co humane society? This person cant get along with hardley anybody. I have heard several people say she wont take animals from them and wont return their calls, and the cats (she claims they are feral and will not tame down to make good pets) they set traps for are taken straight to the shelters to be put down. I know there was a man that was trying to help them and because of what some people told her at the "town meeting" the society stopped talking to this man in fear of losing some support and funds. A Close friend of mine even offered to pay for all her dogs care till they could find him a forever home, but they said they have no place to keep animals (strange hu?)What good are they doing?(NONE)... Why cant some people just do the right thing????

I would like to know why she helped people that don't have alot of money with spay and neuter and then in the paper a few weeks ago she asked them to pay it back?????

The "President" of the small group, It is sad to say but now not one of the members can or will do anything, they are always "full" and can not accept anymore, the Society started off years ago and was doing good then the word got out about the "president" and most all of the members quit. Where is all the money they are getting? and what about all of the Expensive shelter equipment they are saying they have got and are getting comming from?? And what kind of group would even consider working with the "dog catcher"?? There is NO place for unwanted animals in webster county and that is pathetic and sad beyond words.

I agree they are a group of local scamming theives, just like that katies Rescue that has been in so much trouble. They have done very little to nothing to help animals. Why dont they Help the animals they care claiming they care so much for? I would still like to think they are trying to help, but at times, who knows.

Is the shelter up and running yet? Who all is involved with the shelter?

They have been saying they are getting going and Soon, Soon!!! but they have Yet to have a shelter, up and running, i agree where is all the stuff they are buying and getting donated going? Carlene Cunningham and Becky Humphreys-Macie (however its spelled) and another person or 2 are in it. I agree they seem to be going down the same road as the other shelter that was around here, I agree again, it is Sad.

Seen in the paper where they have kittens and would help with spay & neutering. I wonder if they will ask for that money back also? That is the whole problem, people don't have the money to get them spayed and neutered thats why we have an over population in animals.

If people were really concerned about getting the pets spayed/neutered they could come up with the extra cash to have it done. Why keep dragging in the pets if you cant care for them in a proper way. People get the cats and dogs and either tie the dogs up or let both the cats and dogs run the neighborhood, then when they come in heat, there is the poor animal having to try sitting on its behind to keep the other animals away. Havent you ever looked at a poor female as it is being chased by the neighborhood male cat/dog? That look is enough to make anyone set aside the amount to get it "fixed". So if the animals cant afford to be fixed, people cant afford to drag them in. Its that simple!

I agree if people can not care for the animal then they don't need to get it. But on the other hand people keep setting off strays at people's homes and the people cannot afford to take care of them. They do not want the animal to go to a place where they will be put down so they keep them. And that is where the humane society is supposed to come in. That person may only live on ssi or something and cannot afford it. They live day to day. So come on there is always two sides to every story and every person should voice their oppinion. First off you are offtopic. Now you seem to be a person who likes to talk but has no idea what you are talking about. I hate to say it but when a animal is in heat they do Not sit on theri butt to keep it away from other animals, they go around showing it off, which leads me to believe you dont have animals, or at least i hope you dont. Some people will try to do the nice thing and take in strays, I know I have. The topic is the webster co humane society, they do not want to help ANYBODY with anything, so what is the point of them being around? The Question is.... Why do people keep giving them Money, not knowing where it is going???? I agree that people need to have the money that is required to feed and care for the animals they take in 100%. What Im saying is where is the WCHS to help people who are trying to do the right thing?

And as far as strays, they are animals that other people got and couldnt afford to keep, so they sneak them into someone else yard hoping they will care for it, (especially if its now PREGNANT). My whole point sums up why animal shelters are NOW needed. No i dont have animals, but i sure know a little about them, thank you. And I meant trying to hide their behinds when 2 or 3 dogs are after them at one time. *

Wow! Well you dont have animals, thank God for that. The point IS Animal shelters are needed, but this one DOES NOT HELP, can you get that? are you able to read?? can you understand what we have been telling you?? People do drop animals off and things like that and some people can not afford to get in what they take and that is wrong, but if they are taking care of them and need some help with getting them altered, then there should be a place around here to help them, can you not see that? The only place the people in webster have is to go to nicholas county and get a application for assistance, and that is sad when we are supposed to have on for OUR county. What are these ladys doing with the money they get? why has it been YEARS and no shelter STILL? They are no better than katies rescue. I think if Anybody needs help to get their animal altered they should get some help and of course people that are on a tight budget need to be helped more, If they Care enough to want to do the right thing and get their animal altered they Deserve some help. just wondering if you think people that need foodstamps *just in hard times* should have to put their children up for adoption? All I can say right now is Thank God for Nicholas Animal shelter for helping our sad little county.

Yes shelters are NOW needed, but webster county humane society does NOT even have a shelter, yet they take in money for their shelter?!? confusing hu?? You need to be educated about the topic at hand before you try to add your 2 cents.

I must add my two cents in. First of all, the shelter has been in the works for a very long time. It is a joint effort with the county, who basically has the final say in everything. These volunteer people cannot go onto county property and build a shelter building with county money and government grants. It has to be done by the county. The money and items donated for the upcoming shelter are very well documented. There are records kept that have to be opened to the public if someone wants to see them. They are required to have a budget, as well. I would suggest that, if you cannot get the facts from the society, then contact one of your commissioners. The society usually goes to the monthly meetings. I am sure the commission will see to it that those records are made available to you. I would suggest that if you believe there is wrongdoing within the body of the group, join the group. Let your voice be heard and make a change. Do it for the animals who have no voice!

You need change back from your 2 cents! I have dealt with this "Shelter" first hand, and I DO know they are a dirty backstabbing bunch of crooks. What do you call a place that will trap your "wild" cats and not even give them a chance they just take them to another county (because we dont have on here) and have them took right in the back door and Killed!! the fact they try to come off as a caring bunch of people is just a Outrage! How much money does the county give them? what does the county have anything to do with what they do? The Money they get is from Caring misguided people who donate to them!!! Thats like the "dog catcher" how is this P.O.S even able to keep his job? why is the county paying HIM? Does anyone elese rember in the webster echo a man, Mr. Countryman, tryed to help the shelter out and he has Alot of evidence about the dog catcher and his filthy underhanded ways of treating animals, he has Years of experiance with ASPCA and he was begging to help, well you can see what they did to him the county and the humane society has nothing to do with him and in my opinion they have been downright RUDE to him. Yep thats what you get for calling out people who are Trash. And why is it that when the society was first opened and had very few funds it was the president and her family that used the funds to have all of their animals fixed!?!? I think anybody should get assistance if they are good enough to want to stop the overpopulation, but those people had jobs and did not need to take money from a new and struggling operation. Now why is it the money the PUBLIC has donated to them now is called money from the county and the county has the final say? am I the only one who sees that is a big bunch of Bull$hit?? Yes they have been "in the works" for a Very Long time, and the reason they do not have a shelter and are actually doing Any good is because they are pretty much worthless. and FYI I have been to meetings, and you know what, I was at one time a part of that group! It took me a while to see things for myself and see what was really happening, I wanted nothing more that to help animals,find them homes and help people afford to fix their animals, I was sadly mislead and I had to finaly just remove myself from these people alltogether. If PEOPLE didnt get animals and didnt mistreat them, there would be NO need for the Humane society; If People didnt get animals and they werent taken care of properly, there would be no need for the Animal shelters. Yes, its a shame if the money is not going where it is supposed to, then shame, shame.
