They are asking the sheriff to provide extra security at Monday night's meeting, with a large crowd expected to be drawn by the police controversy.
Seems Police Chief Terry Freeze is about to be canned and labeled. Seems he had his patrol car painted for $600 without a purchase order (he has since paid the bill) while his wife has offended certain city officials with her verbal intercourse. Also ready for the ejection button is Patrolman Ernie Colvin. His biggest sin is that he is the chief's brother-in-law. But he wrote his walking papers when he publically accused Alderman Scott Moore of harrassing him (Scotty didn't mean any harm, he's just harrassive by nature.) Sergeant Joseph Madden (he of the expandable seatbelt)is also facing the grim reaper. He had the audacity to protest a three-day suspension for rear-ending a car with his cruiser (distinguish between accelerator and brake pedal, Joe.) Madden may well keep hid job and get off with a tar-and-feathering by Merlein. Anyway, it's not Decherd's finest hour, but it ain't the worst either. Gone are the days when they hanged police chiefs each time they changed the laundry (Throneberry served three terms...I mean sentences) or used radar to clock CSX Railroad freights for speeding and hand-delivered tickets to the office. You've come a long way, Decherd, but you still provide a hellava show. |

I posted a comment earlier but it didn't take, it seems. I guess its floating in outer space somewhere now.
Its sad that when a man requests his own demotion, a cluster of non decherd residents cause such a ruckus about town that we now need sheriff's deputies to keep order in our little conference room at next meeting. If the man wants to step down, then why are these people giving his grief? Let the man work the job he feels best suited for and leave him alone. regarding the rear end accident...."rear end" says it all. the employee handbook and PD's SOP spells out proper punishment for such a 'love tap.' Oh, by the way, that 'love tap' is going to cost just under $5K to repair both vehicles, not to mention medical bills not yet addressed and posted for delivery. gracious, glad I wasn't love tapped. one of the biggest mistakes this board made was allowing 'take home vehicles.' probably 98 % of decherd's employees park their city cars/trucks when they arrive home, while others DON'T. its the smallest % who give others a bad name. some are alleged to be using their city cars for personal shopping while some are alleged to be driving their city cars to their 2nd jobs. Oddly enough, these city vehicles have been and are frequently seen in places where Decherd vehicles aren't on duty. Wonder why? Is it right to use decherd vehicles for personal use? No. I hope these allegations are proven false. What's that old expression? The guilty dog always barks first. Is that the right saying? We'll just have to wait to see I guess. |

I heard that Jerry Springer would be at the Monday night meeting. Apparently he is taping it for showing at a later date!!!

When Terry Freeze was appointed police chief, some one dug into his past and found a mole hill that was promptly blown into a mountain.
It's funny that no one has looked into Ross Peterson's past now that he's about to be appointed police chief. You might not only find a mole hill, but quite likely a gopher hole. |

They will have a hard enough time packing everyone who shows up into the meeting room, without Jerry Springer and his bald-headed bouncer. Heard the TBI is even invited. Really doesn't matter, the Decherd Board will do as it pleases as usual and the public be dammed.

Heard they fired a 1/3 of the police force last night including the chief. Remember the old days when Decherd only had one policeman; he furnished his own car and there was a call box on the utility pole in front of Powell's hardware. Sounds like Decherd needs to go back to the old days!!

Yeah right! Freeze and Colvin failed to return their equipment and cars to the City of Decherd.
As of Wednesday afternoon current officers had to go get the city property. Where was Tavelin then? |

Decherd can use a Good steakhouse, poolhall.

Yeah.....LOOK at what Decherd is doing now that we have a new police chief!!!!! Patrol cars are on the roads and doing what they are meant to do. Speeders are not running stop signs as often and they are paying attention to SPEED ZONE signs along the BLVD and along subdivision streets, as it should be. No speed traps....just plain old police observation and attention to safety, welfare of our residents and those who visit our city.
XXX movies are coming off the shelves in local markets because Decherd wants to be a 'family friendly' city where all our little children can go inside 'gas 'n goes' with mom and dad without being subjected to porn. Thanks to the Board of Aldermen and Mayor for making this departmental change, and THANKS to our new PD Chief!!! Good luck Chief Peterson and keep up the good work. You have a good group of men in your department and now they have a good leader. God Bless you all!!!! Please keep us safe from harm. |

Yes!

More good news coming out of Decherd. Golly, let me catch my breath first. OK....first, full week of time cards under our new police chief and......get this!!!!! only 0.50 hrs of OT.
Now remember, there were no heavy duty, long winded court cases our patrolmen had to attend, so this could account for some of these good numbers. Even still, we are 3 men short and all shifts have been covered properly producing only half hr in OT. We all need to give Chief Peterson a WELL DONE and offer to buy that man a burger. Way to go ROSS!!!!! |

1 Mr. Buckner and neighbors expressed great concern for three little dogs said to be in the upstairs portion of the house. Three other Decherd firemen braved the heavy black smoke and fire to rescue the dogs. The smoke was so heavy that they located the dogs by the sounds of their barking. The dogs were removed and treated with oxygen and seem well and happy. Mr. Buckner was said to be staying with his daughter. This is one of Decherd's beautiful and historic residences and hopefully it can be restored. What could have been tragic was not thanks to the quick response of Decherd's first responders. Decherd fire department says it can be anywhere in the city limits within two minutes. This time that quick response saved both human and animal lives. The city of Decherd recently honored Mr. Buckner by placing a plaque on the new well on First Avenue North. Mr. Buckner told city officials exactly where to dig for water and the wellmen easily brought in a gusher. Decherd residents should be proud of their first responders who risked their own well being to save the lives and property of others. |

thanks for paying attention to that detail, court did get us a little this week, but we are watching every hour, thanks for your support !!

Sir, It's our duty as citizens to pay attention to detail and offer credit where credit is due. Thank you for what you and your dept do. There need not be any concern of OT when court calls. How else will the wheels of justice turn unless you and your men follow thru with court appearances? Yet, I appreciate your openness/concern regarding that matter. It seems you and I have an appointment tomorrow. Will you please contact our mutual friend after you return from court? Then I'll speed on over to your office. Oops, I didn''t mean to say SPEED. No way Jose'...I never speed in Decherd. Winchester, maybe, but never in Decherd. Thanks to all Decherd's employees who provide this city with so many exceptional services. |

Thanks for your help yesterday. Perhaps I won't be harassed, stalked or threatened anymore now that you and the Sheriff are aware of my recent problems/concerns.
Making an official complaint against a person in one's own community is a hard and tough decision, to say the least. Were I not in a state of fear, I'd never have contacted you or the Sheriff at all. I sincerly appreciate your kindness and extreme professional manner while dealing with this terribly frightening issue that came upon my home and repeated, personal threats against me. I am thankful for you, your men and the sheriff and his deputies as well. Folks like you help the rest of us sleep better at night. Our Decherd residents and our Franklin County residents are blessed to have folks as dedicated as you all watching over us. THANK YOU!!!!! |

Having spent time in the wilds of the Yukon and Alaska, I can truthfully say that bear, moose and especially wild boars generally won't bother you unless they feel threatened. Be it known that you have endangered the livelihood of central office toadies, Mrfranly. All I can say is "watch your back."

Franly is not that powerful. He who thinks that comments on here could affect his job needs to look in the mirror.
