Early morning crash kills Lettsworth man
A Lettsworth man died early Sunday after his car left the roadway and struck a tree in Pointe Coupee Parish, State Police Troop A spokesman Johnnie Brown said in a news release.
Joe Green Jr., 50, was traveling south on La. 1 at the intersection of La. 15 at 2:13 a.m. when his 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix left the roadway to the right, Brown said. Green then overcorrected, exiting the roadway to the left and striking a tree, Brown said.
Green, who was not wearing his seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene, Brown said. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash.

What is it about so many Pointe Coupee parish drivers? They've got it backwards.
You should say YES to wearing seatbelts. You should say NO to driving while intoxicated. Seatbelts: YES DWI: NO. |

i know...pointe coupee is bad about it...my dad is from alabama and he came visit last week. he said that a state that is constantly advertising how strict they are on drunk drivin has more drive thru daquairi shops than anything else!! i think that is part of the problem! DRIVE THRU ALCAHOL. i dont think they have that in new roads since goodyears tho...but its all over here in lafayette. there are like 5 in the 3 mile radius of my house! |

I honestly think that it is just plain senseless to not wear your seatbelt. It isn't even that uncomfortable. I barely even know it is there...and even if these people do find it uncomfortable, maybe they should remember that it might be a little more uncomfortable spending the rest of your life in a wheelchair...or worse, dead. How many facts have to be hurled into people's faces before they get the picture. SEATBELTS SAVE LIVES. DON'T BE AN IDIOT, WEAR YOUR SEATBELT.

No seatbelt + beer + pickup truck = Death by Ejection.
Natural Selection. You are given rational thought and the tools to save your life and you don't use them. It is pitiful that this is a weekly occurance, but one must question the general IQ of an area with such a high preventable mortality rate. I feel horrible for what this person did to their family, but I feel no pity on the offender. |

My condolences to the Green family, and let us all remember that it is not our place to judge. It was Mr. Green that paid the price remember that.
