You know. Your're right about some things. However, that's slander when you say the mayor sells drugs. He may have shortcomings, but he doesn't do that and he ought to sue you for saying that. As far as your job, maybe you might think of becoming better educated and getting a real job so you can support your family. Stop whining and fix what's wrong. If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. It's tiring to listen to people sitting on their asses whining about what's wrong and not doing anything. If nothing else, drive to Champaign and work.

Why don't you move then? You said you have a job. Pack your stuff and go! Then you won't be so miserable.

Step out of your comfort zone and try another town, state, or country.

It doesn't matter where you live it's what you make of it. My niece, Terra Ramsey is an oustanding athlete for DACC and we are so proud of her. Vermilion County was a fine place to raise a family and live a descent life, but my experience has been that after General Motors closed its doors everything has had a rebound effect. You can't allow certain people to pull the strings and expect good quality jobs to come your way. I attended many meetings in this county and I found the mentality to be small town thinking. I live in a community that took their old railroad way and made it into a 33 mile bike trail. It is absolutely beautiful and you see people having so much fun. Vermilion County has talked about this type of trail for their abadoned lines and extending it to Champaign, but for what ever reason the mentality to make it happen is not there. Too bad for the community.

Hey grandma how are you doing? Hope all is well with you and your family.
Things are rockin here. It is busy as usual but in a real fun way.
Been mainly just living day by day and doing what needs to be done.
If you would like you are more than welcome to call me Beth.
Some people say that is so much easier to pronounce.
Peace to you! Rock it out!

Hey Debra that is great that your daughter is a athete.

You are right the place is what you make of it. When I lived in Danville I loved it for the most park. There were things that got on my nerves but that is the same any place you go.

The bottom line is if you are willing to look for fun and good things you will find them.

Your idea about the trail sounds great. I heard something about a dog park too? Does anyone have pictures? That sounds real neat.

Hosting AKC dogs shows sounds fun!

My 10 Good Things to Say About Danville:

10. Toothless Prostitutes - they might take longer to get the job done, but it's worth the wait!
9. Cheap Drugs - available for sale in every other alley across town
8. Easy-Going Victims - half are doing something illegal when I mug them, burglarize their homes, or cop a feel at the urinals in the Village Mall bathroom (no one calls the cops on me here!)
7. Juvenile Delinquency - punks everywhere are always willing to beat the shit out of some random old person for $10 (better than cable, and I can watch from my bedroom window!)
6. Free Internet, Free Cable, Free Phone - stealing is so easy, it's almost a crime to NOT steal this shit
5. Cheap Housing - prices this low can't be beat anywhere (rent controlled apartments are great!)
4. City Parks - where else can I steal a skateboard in Douglas, vandalize a tennis court in Lincoln, and get paid for a handjob in Ellsworth all in the same night?
3. Dead Dogs - whether I shoot them in a drive-by or steal them from the backyard, there's always a good supply of pets to sell on Craigslist!
2. Complacent Doctors - they give me pain meds I don't need, sign my SSI forms without giving me a physical, and the few remaining taxpayers pay for it all!

And the No. 1 good thing to say about Danville is:
1. States Attorney's Office - they will not prosecute even when you've admitted it on camera (too afraid I'll rat out their lawyers who do crack in a certain bar's basement bathroom!)

My grandmother is nearly eighty years old, you know what she told me about Danville , that it is widely known for its whore houses, in fact on the way to Indiana she pointed out several spots where they used to be. The only thing I can possibly say good about Danville is property is cheap and rent is low, but only because the city is desperate for people to live there! Upon my own personal experience, alot of people(not all) who choose to live there have loose moral and low values. The man I know from there is upper society and he is the losest form of life I have ever known. I reccomend thatif you live there to get out before you lose sight of your morals too!

I just don't understand why people stay if they hate it so much?

Is it they cannot afford to move?
Is it they don't want to try things someplace else?
Do they really like Danville?

What keeps people there if they hate it so much.

Houses are cheap all over. Jobs are good in other places as well.

Guess people aren't that unhappy with Danville if they continue to stay.

Why stay someplace you hate?

I can sooner think of a hundred negative things about Danville before I can think of ten positive ones.
I left there years ago. It was geting bad in town when I was there but now, I am scared to be there especially at night.
There are unsavory characters lurking every place, drug activity on every corner, corrupt law and legal system, prositutes street walking, high speed chases and gun fire. Yeah, great to place to return to and call your 'hometown' as you go ratteling down the bumpy roads, passing the empty buildings, watching the homeless congregate at their hang outs, thinking to yourself-'whatever happened to this town?'.

4. We are within minutes of great county and state parks.
5. Danville Light Opera, Red Mask theater, Arts in the park.
6. No traffic on roads that are no worse than anywhere else.
7. Convenient to bigger cities.
8. Crime is overall no worse than average for any city.
9. For every brainless internet poster and criminal, there are 100s of good decent people.
10. And the best thing about living in Danville - You can move to Westville, center of the known universe...
Crime there is WAY worse then average, and moving from Danville to Westville is out of the frying pan and into the fire! HA!

I had to move 7 hours to this shit hole for a big job at McLane. I worked there for 6 months before Lee Cobb VP of Distribution fired me for what from the start was a lie. My appendix ruptured and after 2.5 weeks later I was fired the next day i came to. Never been written up or anything, just got screwed. I was the Director of Training and Development. Now I am stuck in this terrible economy in Danville. One of the Managers McLane hired like me that was from somewhere else; Joe Jenkins hung himself over work. Now McLane tell me about your Christian values. Shame on you Lee Cobb, you won't last their either with the reputation you are getting.

The city council and mayor are just sitting back, bidng their time...they will continue making crappy decisions that ruin this town, and when it's nothing but Chicago negroes and crackheads (like ones that moved to Lamesa Texas) left, they'll pick up and move to some other town. Thanks Scott Eisenhauer and the city council, for nothing. At least one of the aldermen pulled strings to get all of the drug charges against his son dropped, I guess that worked out well for HIM

I just wish I could get away with anything I wanted because daddy's an alderman. The sad thing is that the cops and prosecutors had to cooperate, so it speaks very LOWLY of our public servants and elected officials.

I traveled 17 hrs to live here in Danville for a position at McLane over 9 yrs ago,and have been gainfully employeed ever since. Performance is a must in most companies, especially in this time and age. As director of of training as you say, where were you as a teammate of McLane I never met or saw you perform any duties, were you locked up in an office? The man that you mentioned that hung himself had more personel issues involved and that should be left for his family to resolve. As far as Lee Cobb is concerned, he is managing an operation with obsticales however, doing a fair job. I live in Danville, looks as though you live in St Joe?
