I have read many recent posts about how Covina is becoming a bad area. Many people have commented that the "Bad" are creeping in from the surrounding areas and that's causing this little city to now be classed as a bad area. Well, have you noticed the King Ranch market on Citrus? If you thought things were bad, they're about to become worse. King Ranch caters to the Hispanic community and provides bus transportation...low income, low income, low income! I guess the store providing transportation will eliminate King Ranch shopping carts from being scattered amongst our city. What is our city thinking? If they City managers are trying to improve our image and keep it an upper class neighborhood, then why are they letting King Ranch market move in and why don't they stop the elote and raspado vendors from pushing their shopping carts around the city? Folks, things are going to get worse. Maybe we'll change the name of Covina to "Cochina". I don't want to come across as racist because I am a latina also, but we might as well open up the Citrus car wash to the taco trucks on the weekends too! Let's bring in all of the bad crowd.

You do sound racist! Latina please why would you talk about your own people like that. I think its great that they are opening a King Ranch Store on Citrus...and I bet it does alot better then the Ralphs that was there before. In this economy low prices are going to help all people.

I doubt your a latina, if so why would you associate mexicans with a bad neighborhood. And your stupid if you think covina is a high class area. I shop at King ranch and it has been a positive experience. Also, the people who shop at King rach have a hell of lot more class than you.

"Latina" or not, you are very insensitive... especially to your own race & the state of the economy. Your opinion is based on the fact that King Ranch market provides transportation and caters to the low income Hispanic community....HELLO! Have you not seen the statistics of the US Census. The majority is HISPANICS especially in LA County. This business is trying to cater to the masses. I hope you never experience this type of racism because as a Christian woman, I fully believe "you reap what you sow." If this offends you, then move to the Finish Countries where there are little to no-Hispanics.....GOOD-BYE & have a safe trip!!

King Ranch is catering to the community not a race! Did you ever think their transportation would benefit the elderly in the area? Covina is still a safe city it is outsiders coming into our city to commit crimes!! Go out to Covina park this week and see concerts in the park and see how diverse our community is!!!!

"Covina Mom" you are so ignorant. If you were to go to King Ranch, you'd notice there are not only latinos shopping but also african-american,asians, and white people there. As a latina Mother that I am I am ashamed of having someone like you be the same race as myself. Maybe you should move to another neighborhood with no latinos whatsoever so you will be happier. you must not be low income or else you wouldn't be judging people that are trying to make a decent living it out here for their families. You think that the food trucks are bad people?? At least they are not stealing or robbing people for a living. And learn to write and spell STUPID!!! If anyone is a bad person is YOU

Covina Mom I too live in Covina and I have not seen any King Ranch carts scattered at all. I have seen the elote and raspado people who are out there making a living. Those people are working hard and I don't see the many people eating from these vendors complainning. Covina will stay as Covina because there is no problem with having and experiencing Ethnic Culture. The issue is keeping Covina Safe by staying vigilant and reporting suspicious activities to the Covina P.D. Pay closer attention and get the bad people out!

Convenient location, low prices, clean, well-stocked, fresh fruits/vegetables, and friendly service. King Ranch is my go-to market since it's within walking distance and all I've ever had were good shopping experiences there. On Wed and Thu there are super-specials, sometimes Sun too. Reasonably priced, and delicious, food-to-go served hot. I just wish they were open later! Sure a lot of hispanic people shop here. Actually, lots of white people too. I'm personally asian and I shop there all the time. Wouldn't surpise me to see black people shopping there too. Nor any other "race" or "color". There's just a lot of PEOPLE shopping there. Why? Read the first sentence. Too diverse for you? What about Food4Less? Vons? Albertsons? Smart&Final? Superior? God-forbid if we had mixed-raced supermarkets. Being the good asian that I am I guess I should shop at 99 Ranch.(not knocking 99 Ranch, it's just far away, but if I'm out in rowland heights it's a great supermarket too). Covina Mom, I hope your kids aren't so hateful as you are. And personally, I think a taco truck would be a PERFECT addition to the citrus car wash.(I grew up with taco trucks in el monte but the city's since banned them, it's too bad cause they're cheap and delicious. side note: you get can 2 tacos for a buck at King Ranch after 2PM, LOL).

Way to go Latina. I'v been there and see them leave the carts all around the parking lot and whats irratating is the Shipping cart holder is only a few feet away. Talk about not having class and being lazy. This is not Mexico this is America we do have rules that most of us follow. Taking carts and puching them around the City and leaving them where ever they fall. It's not a pretty sight. For those of you that don't know this it is a crime and The Covina Police should inforce it.I don't know about all of you but the last I knew the langue in the United States is English not Spanish. So use it when speaking to others

Where do I even begin? And you've never left a cart in the parking lot, I assume? It's not a "rule" or "law" to put carts back. It's recommended and is a courtesy to the workers. As for taking carts off the premises, would you prefer people bring their own carts? King Ranch can obviously handle all the shopping cart bandits. Asking the police to pursue such a matter is a waste of their time and our money. They have more pressing issues than returning a cart. There are people who make a living by picking up carts "where ever they fall" and returning them to markets. As for speaking English. Head over to http://answers.usa.gov/cgi-bin/gsa_ict.cfg/ph... and you'll find your answer. In short, the US does not have an official language. Also, please use spell-check if you want to be taken seriously.

I think it's a matter of perspective, for me it's a great place to save in this economy, I live in Covina Hills in a million dollar home and that doesn't mean I want to go spend my hard earn money at Albertson's or Von's were they price everything much higher because they need to pay the unions. I always try to find bargains, and just as long as they keep the store and parking lot clean it's fine with me, maybe you should consider moving to San Marino or South Pasadena if you have a problem with low income people.

Maybe you should consider moving. Covina Mom wrote: I have read many recent posts about how Covina is becoming a bad area. City Manager amd Counsel was most likely thinking of city revenue, you should of had more interest in attending the city counsel meetings when the proposal was presented. As far as renaming the city you should present that to the City Council meetings and get signatures. I drive 13 miles to King Ranch twice a week, they are clean and the food is good. I really think you should consider attending your city meetings and give them your input. Well, have you noticed the King Ranch market on Citrus? Covina has always been bad, where have you been for the last ten years? Your not complaining when its hot out and you see an ice cream cart approaching, your right there waving your dollar around.and as for being latina..please raspado..really. so you took a spanish coarse big deal," i can teach you my language, rosetta stone" lol. Deal with it or just move. And its raspa. Or as said in english " snow cone" lol Covina Mom wrote: I have read many recent posts about how Covina is becoming a bad area. First of all, you stated that the "langue" in the United States is English, I think that you need to educate yourself as there are many different languages spoken in the United States. Secondly, when attempting to support an ignorant statement make sure to review your facts and to proofread what you wrote. Not only were your comments racist, they also demonstrated your lack of education. For example, in briefly skimming through what you wrote, you stated that the "langue" in the U.S. is English, well then why don't you learn how write it correctly. There are plenty of mistakes in your "English." You misspelled, "I'v," "irratating," "puching," "inforce," "langue." Why don't you take a look at yourself before judging others. I agree Latina wrote: Way to go Latina. I'v been there and see them leave the carts all around the parking lot and whats irratating is the Shipping cart holder is only a few feet away.
