Red River Parish School Board member Valerie Cox motioned that the planned event that was to be held at the First Methodist Church in Coushatta, should not be held there as her constituents felt unwelcome. I am a consituent of yours Ms Cox. I feel very welcome there.
Thank you to Mr Ross for his wonderful letter to the editor in the Citizen. In this he rebuked her comment and welcomed her and others to worship with him.
Ms Cox it is a shame that you chose to make your comment in such a way. I am certainly looking forward to reading your reply to Mr Ross. And we welcome you to the First Methodist Church. Come worship with us.

Another attempt at control is all that was...had it been at a church of her choice she would never have made that comment.

Kudos to Ross Gamble.

They could hold the banquet at one of their many "churches" or "homes" that are always vacant...what's up with that anyway?

Whatever happened to the all mighty Dr. for misusing all that grant money he wasted or put up? And the majority voted him in Town Council?

I think the misusing has continued - just beat the system.

Please get me caught up.
What event was to be held? And how long ago did all of this happen?

JuneBug...I can't remember the event. I will dig out the copy of the Citizen and look. It was on the front page. The following week was Mr Ross's reply as a letter to the editor.

I just don't understand why she couldn't have just said something like "let's have a change of venue this year... share the love around...." But to imply an issue by saying that her constituents were "unwelcome" is outrageous. My family and I are her constituents, and she didn't ask us.

To quote Mr Obama... "Hold on sweetie..."
