Has anyone heard about this? Apparently 2-3 people were shot Saturday night... Haven't seen anything about it in ANY papers.... Kind of like the shooting at PW's (now Jazzbones) awhile back...apparently not interesting enough for media coverage....

I am not 100% positive on all the details. But it was 2 people that were hit. A woman was shot through her thigh, the bullet went straight through and struck am young man in the abdomen and that went dtraight through as well. They were transported to the hospital and both survived. Now as for the reason behind the shooting I am unclear.

first of all please get your facts straight. There wasn't a shooting AT PW's, there was a drunk idiot that shot a gun in the air in theparking lot out behind the OHT and PW's...

The Element "shooting" was simply an altercation IN THE PARKING LOT between two wannabe gangsters. One guy showed his gun to another guy, the other guy tried to pull out his gun and shot himself in the leg, at which point the bullet ricocheted and struck someone else in the leg. Then, the police put the guy who showed the gun in the back of a squad car, thinking he was a victim, and somehow the gun in HIS waistband went off and shot HIM in the leg.

So many wannabe gangsters. Now before everyone blames the club, let's peel it further back..these 2 gents are active duty Navy. They would have done it at Applebee's, or the barracks, or anywhere else...

Everybody in the club was shot by the Kmart Crips. Who then retalliated by taking there shoes off and throwing them at the club owners and yelling damn you mafia columbian drug lords. Then the Polka Dancing championships went on as normal. So all I am saying people is its your turn to make up some bogus story. The truth is it was over at Quizno's! They wouldn't give me my aus jus for my roast beef sandwich. Which would piss you off too!!

I'm from oak harbor and in the Navy. I'm just angry these wantabee thugs brought this crap to my town and at the same time brought discreidt upon the Navy. They join the navy to escape this B.S. and then bring it with them. They deserve anything that happens to them from this point forward. They brought it upon themselves and it's time to man up and face the conseqences.

I work at a bar local to the area this shooting took place. There has been an enormous buzz about the place for months. Though I have not seen a "large" effect on my business, I have noticed a mellower crowd.
As part of the working-force for a "good time", I would like to make it known that things like this make me second-guess my job. For most of us bartenders all we have for protection is cameras and cell phones. It's not like back in the day when we could pull out a bigger gun and scare them away, the regulars rioting in the street for them never to return....it's a more fragile situation for the people on the other side of the bar. Not only are we "in charge" of our patrons, but we also are paying attention to conversation, body launguage, jokes and such. For one person, two, or three, on a busy night, calculate 40 customers or more per person to be watching and paying attention to, while servicing others. It's not an easy task.
So where I am taking this, is that I am bothered by the fact that this simple Island town has now had an incident closely effect me. Though, I hope my voice stands out for others in my proffession. Guns and alcohol don't mix, guns kill people-people don't. This incident is now going to effect two, possibly more, people for the rest of their lives. They most likley have career paths for their proffessions, possibly going to school.....and can lose it for one simply poor judgement.
Wake up people.

First of all i would like to say that for those of you who just took it upon yourself to call someone who was a victim of a shooting a thug, someone that you don't even personally konw, says alot about what kind of person you are. I can honestly say that i for one know this person very well and he is not nor has he ever been a damn thug. He is a very well respected shipmate in his command and a very good person. He just happened to be in a club with a couple of stupid drunk idiots who decided to take their anger out on him and his friends. Thats all. Thankyou.

If dude is so cool and respected, why does he need to bring a gun to a club in Oak Harbor?? And what kind of "gangsta" carries a .22?

Maybe the Navy should filter who they let in, and not just douchebags that pick the Navy over going to jail.

Thugs in Oak Harbor, Wa...who woulda thought?

Honestly I'm not surprised... We've been getting a whole mess of these poser gangster idiots coming into this small whitebread town lately, and they're really getting on my nerves. That, and enough dipshit Navy guys to fuel the fire (Not aiming a punch at the Navy, but we do get a load of idiotic sailors in this town) it makes for this small boring town kind of losing it's charm of safety it once had. I grow weary of these "thugs".
