parents recieved a letter in the mail stating tocheck student handbook and that at 8;00am students would be locked out of the classrooms and placed in school cafeteria on01-25 2010 there was a train the the students were allowed in the classroom but were marked late the morm is if there is a train the students are excused and a annoucement is made the students are to be excused but on 01-25 the students were greeted by the door by security and told to go to attendence office for a late slip .After 3or 5 tardys the student is dropped from class and recieves no credit. This school is under restructuring not meeting state academic how is this suppose to help students parents and school council boobleheads need to seriously look at why this school 5 years and still failing at strong for 5 full years is not doing their job if schools in the inner city can turn around in a year why cant this school. why easy money its a job a easy paycheck they have a good union so they cannot be touched even if there is wrong doing at this school as it has gone in the past and recently one hand washes the other and covers up,any staff descripencies or 'errors'

I agree about the train and exusing the students to be excused. But they have to be hard on this kids. This is school, this is preparing them for the future. I am a strong believer in tough love. And it starts at home. If it is not at home then the School has to be the one to be tough. And then you hear the parents complaining the school is failing. Well it is up to the parents to get these kids off to school on time whether or not they are high school students. Who is the boss here the child or the parent. Parents don't blame the school.

In response to RCCOLa- you missed the point train issues have gone on for years--This is something beyound a person control meaning the train delay and at times stopping it has nothing to do with a person being late- Oh bright one -having to do "with tough love"The school failing has been a ongoing issue for years as well it hasd nothing to do with the trains,And as for preparing for the future yes there is a handful students excelling-but the majority is failing these are GIANT RED FLAGS- as I stated before If othwere schools in the country have tuned the schools around academicaly by meansd of closing and reopening as a charter school or changing staff-what is wrong with the picture here-why and how the state permits this. It is recorded in black and white by the state that the school is failing and you say parents do not blame the schools where does accountabilty take place keep in mind it has been over 5 years.YOu send a child to be educated the school state while the children are in their building .The issue X amount of tardies and you are dropped from a class regardless of your academic status not a behavior issue

No I did not miss the point. This kids know more or less what time the trains pass. I live in the area and drive to work trains pass almost at the same time. I know when my son and daughter were attending EHS there was a of duty police officer, if there was a train he would let the attendance offic now and they were excused. Now there are a lot of kids that take advantage.

Yes they are.
I think a lot of parents just. I told my kids you want to call DCFS go right on ahead. See if they give you what I give you. When my daughter got out of hand wanted to dress inappropriate or act like a huchi mama, I get her in my car drive her to robbins where the prostitues walk ( right on 135th street) and tell her to get out of the car. You want to act like that this is where you belong. I did it about two or three times it work. Thank God. I am not saying I am a good parent. But you need to do what you got to do to get the kids on the right path.

Rcola I agree with everything you have stated. There are those here who will find any and other excuse to absolve themselves for their dereliction of duty as a parent. I have heard from errant parents...it is the schools fault, it is the teachers fault, it is the school district's fault, it is Nature's fault. No...it is the parents fault. They are the ones that their children feed off of. They are the ones who should instill in their children the need for respect for their teachers and the hunger to learn and better themselves. I have met TOO MANY young adults who can not spell, can not speak properly, can not write a coherent sentence and have the manners of a hooker or common street thug. Where were the parents in their learning years? Deaf? Dumb? Blind? Or all three?

honey, before you start a thread, you better re-organize your thinking and improve your writing skills, because your thoughts are all over the place! how do you expect people to understand what you are talking about when you cannot even articulate it.

well seeing that people responded apparently "what" only you were unable to comprehend .Despite the running sentences and other grammatical errors others got the gist of my thoughts I am sorry it was beyond you, or were you in the mood to attempt to belittle someone? did not work..---Just out of curiosity how many parents attended meeting held FEB15.sponsored by Parent Advisory council and Eisenhower School Improvement Team and are you a member of these or are aware these even exist. And for what is worth ironically all staff members run the meetings and parents are the audience in short a waste of time this the second meeting I have attended so just to let you know your not missing nothing its not as structured as the board meeting as you are aware those in attendance are not permitted to speak if it is not on the agenda. At these meetings you are asked input and if they do not like the response you are cut off and move on the next person.

The majority of the students are hispanics and African American, the minority now is white. Why don't you get the hispanics and African American to attend meetings and so on to help your cause. For all the things you are complaining about.
