Note the insanity: government intervention destroyed the self-sustaining railroads we used to have. Now they want to rebuild them years after railroads' sustainability was undermined by them???

The train has been running over the people since the first spike was driven. It's not going to stop now.'GET ON BOARD' or get run over!

Finish NorthStar to St. Cloud first. Complete that portion and if that works well, and ridership meets or exceeds expectations, then consider expanding it to other areas.

It seems reasonable to run bus service to Hastings to see if there is ridership before this goes into rail development.

This plan makes a lot more sense than the light rail fiasco. Commuter rail has proved itself, in many american cities. It is the most cost effective mode of transportation. As long as they are going to be building the light rail system, it should be manditory that that system, connect with the Red Rock commuter line at the same depot.

This is great news. We need more mass transit options to alleviate highway traffic congestion and provide flexibility to more commuters.

I live in Hastings and work in downtown St. Paul,
sign me up, I would absolutely ride a light rail train to downtown, but I probably wouldn't ride a bus, so don't use bus service as a good gage as
how many would ride the rails. Cottage Grove and Hastings have a lot of people who work in downtown.

Why are we looking at the high cost solution? If commuter bus service costs $3.6 Million and train service will cost $550 million. What is the obsession with a train? I have access to both the NorthStar line and bus service and my wife and I prefer the bus because it has more frequently trips from Foley to and from downtown, we get to work fast and get home sooner except for the 10-15 days a year that it snows on a workday.

Roads and Bridges dont pay for themselves ether they are also paid for by our tax money.
The twin cities metropolitan are needs to continue to move into the 21st century to meet our transpiration requirements.

The only problem is, passenger service was never self-sustaining in the old days. You need to learn more before you spout off on topics you don't know about.

Agree 100%!

What part of the constitution provides for people living where they want and the taxpayers are forced to cough up $1,000,000,000 for a phocking railroad to their chosen place to live??

IF there are 1,000 people living in St. Cloud working in the cities then they can move their fat arses to the cities!

There are well over 1,000 houses for sale in the cities. Would it be too much to ask government to THINK SMART?

People living in Hastings, St. Cloud, Rush City, Hudson, Amery, Northfield can just move to the cities where they work!

I've lived all over and it ain't no better 45 miles from the city than it is in the city or 1st ring suburb.

Furthermore all these long haul commuters pollute the sheet out of the air, waste gas, plug up freeways, cause waste and pollution!

Daily Horoscope for February 13

Scorpio

Resistance from others arises with regard to your efforts. You may strike trouble with in-laws or close associates and there could even be a move against you. Take the time to consult with everyone about what they want and then try to work in with them. If you have any problems with legal people or folk from overseas, tread carefully. Don't let your lifestyle betray your beliefs.
