Way to jump to conclusions you idiot. Yes, there are motorcyclists who do stupid and crazy things. But there are plenty of dumb and irresponsible car drivers who are jeopardizing the lives of other motorists. Until you know all the facts of the accident maybe you should cram your asinine observations up where the sun don't shine.

And people need to realize here that someone lost his life here, whatever the details of the accident. I'm a motorcyclist myself. I see crazy and stupid motorists from both sides on a daily basis. Problem is, when you screw up in a car or truck, it usually has serious/fatal repercussions to other surrounding motorists. And again, I see bikers doing profoundly idiotic things as well. But the first poster just to conclusions and implies the rider deserved to die. What a sorry excuse for humanity.

dont get me wrong here, but most motorcyclist dont know the first thing on how to ride a motorcycle this is why we are having so many death and accident on motorcycle, because these morons dont know the first rule of the road! THE CAR WILL WIN!!! I drove a motorcycle for 15 years never had one accident. When you drive in between cars you tend to lose on most cases. so i know that it gives a rush and all, but is your life really worth the risk?? especailly when traffic is moving motorcycle rider tend to zip right in between cars even at 65MPH.
for those who wants the rush, tsk tsk tsk shame on you!

Another inconsiderate biker ties up traffic for thousands. You dudes need to learn that you always lose the battle with a vehicle and the road.
Time to outlaw "lane splitting." There's no sane nor safe reason why a motorcycle should share a narrow freeway lane next to a vehicle.

It's amusing how you all are making up stories since the article states nothing. And then arguing like little girls about stuff you all made up.
many motorcycle riders are not at fault when they get mangled. But that's why they're stupid.

Yeah, and while you're at it we should ban single car occupancy and radios and cell phones and mirrors on the inside of cars and cars that can go over 65 and the list goes on. Point is EVERYONE needs to drive better, everyone!

I agree 100% I also ride a motorcycle everyday and see stupid on both sides but the toys in cars must go....what ever happened to just driving ?

I doubt the poor guy was lane splitting at 4:25 a.m. - that is a terrible stretch of the 5 and any number of things could have caused the crash. What is clear is that he went over the center divider and was struck by southbound traffic, which is just horrible. Those of you who are criticizing or celebrating his death should be ashamed.

Perhaps this DEAD motorcyclist was speeding and lane splitting and perhaps not. But three things are clear: 1. This DEAD motorcyclist was int he wrong place at the wrong time. 2. This motorcyclist is DEAD! 3. One less motorcyclist to worry about coming up between me and the car next to me. JERK 100%......so you can play with all your car toys.......

I had 3 people on the 101 cut me off this morning doing a snap lane change and no turn signal. None knew I was there until I pulled next to them and waived. Drivers are oblivious because they feel safe in their box and feel they can be rude because they don't deal with anyone face to face. Imagine if they acted how they drove in line to a movie. If people drove with respect traffic would flow much better.

Lane splitting allowed with traffic up 45 mph and the bike 10 mph faster. That's a guide line. There is no law or regulation about lane splitting, there's just no law against it. Every time someone tries to ban it the CHP fight for it. If it's against the law CHP couldn't do it and would have turn on sirens making people move to the right and creating a huge traffic problem. That is according to the CHP.

Hey jackass, this "inconsiderate" biker has died. Sorry to inconvenience you. Again, how do you even know he was the cause of this incident? Whether or not he did, he died. As for outlawing lane splitting, are you even aware this is why he died? You don't do you? Stop talking out of your ass. If anything, lane splitting/sharing in California is what keeps most bikers alive because most car motorists are too fucking busy yapping on their cell phones, brushing their teeth, doing their makeup, scolding their kids, etc instead of focusing on the task at hand....DRIVING! If bikers sat in traffic with cars, they would get rear ended left and right from these zombified California drivers. So, next time you decide to propose something, make sure you think it over to see if it makes some semblance of common sense.

Please keep in mind the lanesplitting law dictates the motorcyclist does not go over 30mph while lane sharing unless I am mistaken. It was not designed for riders to be doing this at 65mph. That is the law. But just like the speed limit (who obeys this consistently?), some riders ignore this. Heck, I see CHP bikers zoom by at 80mph lane splitting. I personally will not lane share over 30-40mph in traffic. You are of course correct, bikers will lose in a collision with a car. Basic law of physics. With that all said, I don't think we know yet if that in fact was the cause of this accident.
