Cornell Cooperative Extension was given a petition with over 400 names on it, with a letter pleading withthem to reconsider the director's position with Camp Owahta. The letter also stated the name of the NY State Dept. of Ed investigator that was currently investigating the case with Todd James, Marathon's Athletic Director. The camp decided, after "reviewing the petitions", to go ahead with business as usual. Why is it that anywhere else...say Syracuse...that an individual with accusations re any inappropriate behavior with a child can be removed immediately but he is allowed to continue to be the director of a sleep over camp? He is allowed to continue to teach. I pray that no child, absolutely NO CHILD, of any age is subjected to any of the behaviors that girls/women have reported spanning 20 plus years. The information provided to the camp was factual....but they chose not to heed any warnings. It truly is time to take this to a larger venue while NYS continues their investigation. WE NEED to protect our children.

As a student of Marathon High, I would like to say that the end of this school year was hell. Some students were taking an AP test in a church but could not effectively test because of honking horns out side of the school. This entire investigation has negatively affected everyone in the school in some way. It would be a lot easier if people would leave the situation alone, because no evidence was good enough to keep this man out of any job. I do feel bad for the girl, I honestly do. But the whole town needs to move past this. So please, I am begging as a student of Marathon High, in the fall i would like to return to high school without petitioners, and without drama. The tension is bad for the learning environment and quite frankly many students don't need tension and drama while they are trying to learn and test. We have out futures to plan for. Thank you.

Dear Annoyed Student,
I am sorry to all of the students, staff, and others that were disrupted by the honking horns and the protestors. Honestly. The lack of evidence does not make him innocent, it just means that they could not prove guilt. As someone that is very close to the investigation, it is my hope that this does not carry in to September. It is also my hope, that one day all of the frustration, tension, anger/sadness, will be better understood by students, staff, and members of the community. Someday, years from now, you will be a parent and will understand the depth of love a parent has for their child and you will understand that a parent would do anything in the world to protect their child from ANY hurt or pain. Someday, it may be easier to understand that this young lady deserves her life back and deserves justice. Thank you for your respectful post and with NY State investigating, the matter should be resolved before the fall.

Dear pissedoffparent,

No testing should be interrupted as a result of the idiotic decision to get cars to honk for a lost cause. Please reevaluate your illogical viewpoint because in this country it is innocent until proven guilty, not guilty until proven innocent. If you're against the policies of this great country then please do us the common courtesy of removing yourself from it.

Okay, this made me laugh. How logical was it to resurrect a thread from 3 1/2 months ago that had died a natural death ? Silly you.
Your statement is so nonsensical it bears no worthy discussion.

AnnoyedStudent - "So please, I am begging as a student of Marathon High, in the fall i would like to return to high school without petitioners, and without drama. Well, you see, many students don't need sexual abuse and harassment while they are trying to learn and test. Their plans for the future were shot to hell. And no, THANK YOU .

Next time (and there WILL be a next time) we'll throw marshmallows out our car windows in support so as not to disturb anyone.

So, it really wasn't logical to bump this thread up, now was it ? Just goes to show, we're still here. Here and waiting.
When his greasy paw slides up your daughter's shorts, come round and see us.

We'll leave the light on.
