Corning Woman Behind Bars

I was in jail last summer with Colleen Shiels and I don't care what the news says about her. Some of it is probably true but she was a sweet lady who took the time to listen to me when my ear was bothering me.

Its happens. Even good folks screw up once in awhile. Weve all had lil rage fits before, but you cant go around stabbing folks

I worked with Colleen in Canada some years ago. I know she is a good person - at that time she set up and ran an Alcoholic Treatment Centre. She was ill at the time of the stabbing and should be receiving medical help rather than incarceration.

I never knew she set up and ran an Alcoholic Treatment Centre! That is really nice. I know she got involved in missions. Is that where you know her from? Wow! You wrote from Ireland. When I get off probation hopefully in July I plan on writting her.

I met Colleen exactly a year ago today. She is always in my prayers.

I am an old friend of Colleen's. I have known her for 18 years. Believe me the whole story has not been written. Colleen is a very good person who has been through a lot of trauma in her life. Yet,through most of her life, she was a loving caring person who would help anyone. She worked as a marriage and family therapist and was excellent at it. A bad marriage, difficult divorce and protracted and unfair custody fight impacted her mental health. She was very ill at the time of this incident. I know because I tried real hard to get her help. Our wonderful, affluent country lacks the foresight to help mentally ill people before events turn ugly. She needed and wanted help. I pray she wins her pending appeal which is based on harsh sentencing.

I don't know Colleen very well but for the most part she seemed nice. My mom doesn't think Colleen is nice if she had been involved in all those crimes for years. I don't know what to think but I hope she can get out of prison. I don't think she deserves to be in prison. She was very understanding of me and non-judgemental when I told her how I used to destroy property when I got angry. Most people will shame me for that. They are sweet cupcakes that never lose their tempers! I hope for the best for Colleen. When I get off probation I plan on writting her big time!

A year ago today I got out of jail in Elmira where I met Colleen. I should be getting off Probation real soon so I plan on writting her as soon as possible. She is good people and doesn't deserve this.

So far I haven't gotten the letter stating I am off Probation but I do plan on writting her. My P.O. said to give it 2 weeks. If I don't get the letter, report to her. September 15th. Anyhow you also seem nice. A lot of times on topix forums there are lots of cyber bullies. I get burned out bad from them. Thanks for being nice to me. I don't know what Colleen thinks of me. She was there for me in jail when my ear was blocked from ear wax. She put up with my complaining when she was looking at hard time. The girls in the Elmira jail were very nice. Most girls in jail are not nice. They enjoy fighting and hurting people. All they care about is sex. That's it. And they love to fight. Colleen doesn't belong in jail. Her heart is too soft. Those women in there hate nice women! I hope and pray Colleen is doing alright. I worry about her. Thankyou for writting me.

I will be visiting Colleen this month at Bedford. I will let her know you are thinking of her and will write her when you are off probation. She will be happy to know she made a real connection with a good person when she was in Elmira. I am on Facebook, are you?

I do have a facebook account but I don't know how to use it. I'm happy to hear you are a good friend of Colleen's and you are going to visit her at Betty Hill's. Hope and pray she is safe and sound! Thanks for everything.

Bad News: All that talk of me getting off Probation early was not accurate. My P.O. on the 15th told me I was off Probation and not to worry about the letter. So I took off and went to Canandaigua. I was going to hit Elmira next but that's when I got a letter in the mail. It was from my P.O. It said request for early termination has been denied. So I remain on Probation. I been on Probation for almost 2 years now. I also got 4 months credit from jail. No sign of me getting off Probation any time soon! I was planning on writting Colleen right after I got back from Elmira but I found out I'm still on Probation. I had to refund my bus ticket. I feel bad for breaking rules and going to Canandaigua but I had a blast in Canandaigua! It was a good 6 days being off Probation. A breather. But now I'm back on Probation.

he probably deserved it.....i never tried to stab my ex boyfriend but he did plenty to me. shoved me to the floor...held me down by my neck.....strangled me....slapped me in the face with his hat...choked me while i was driving.....body slammed me against the door...threatened me to give him money or he would punch me in the face.....one real manipulating lying crack head scum bag.....what would happen if i had tried to defend myself against this loser...i pity any woman that ends up his next victim....

that is svery nice you offer prayers...I feel lucky and safe now....and so hard I tried to make things better....but my point is...women have a tendancy to try to make things work...and when you are involved with a psychopath you might now see it at first....by the time you figure it out you are in over your head and he more than likely has a choke hold on your heart and your emotions....there have been many times when I have had to defend myself...and end up getting more hurt....I don't know enough about the case we are discussing here on topix to know what the deal was but in my case....I can see how things happen...how a woman might end up having to defend herself....these kinds of men...they lie and try to cover up for the messes they make....I hope prayers can help them too.

I don't know much about the case either. All I know is in jail I would see girls get out after 2 weeks for stabbing their boyfriends and Colleen got 10 years! These girls were very mean and Colleen was nice. It makes no sense to me.
