The Mount hosts prom

For the first time since the 1970s, The Mount hosted a high school prom. As the sun was setting Saturday, more than 300 parents, grandparents, brothers and sisters lined both sides of the main entryway to the late author Edith Wharton's former mansion and applauded as young Lenox High School couples walked into the mansion arm in arm.

A heartwarming story, conjuring up Ms. Wharton's pleasure at the event. And, with the Mount's new management not charging for the event, we're seeing evidence that they appreciate the value of (a) favorable publicity and (b) community goodwill. Three cheers for renewed vitality at the Mount!
