Are you talking about Mr. Morrow at the highschool? He has always been so nice to me when i have spoke to him about my child. I think we need more educators like him.

Disgruntled parents angry at the educational establishment hierarchy, and they cannot spell or use proper grammar. Irony?

Grow up and keep your kids in line and you will not need to deal with Mr. Morrow. Sounds like YOU have the problem. Do you have trouble getting that problem UP in the morning? Send the rebellious child off to school and expect someone else to show some morals to him/her. DO YOUR job and you won't be complaining about others trying to.

It's not irony, it is Corning.Period. Look at it all closely, the teenie boppers on here can't spell worth crap. My 3rd grader can spell better than the 17 yr. olds around here. They can't even put a sentence together. You are probably talking to a high schooler that got into trouble anyway and wanted to start trashing Mr. Morrow. Corning is not about learning, it is a daily social event they are attending. If the kids around here don't want to learn, they don't. They are too busy doing drugs/drinking/partying, running around, and having babies. I think (which means an opinion coming) that the best of the best couldn't do anything with most of the students in the school here. The kids get their parents all riled up @ the principle or a teacher, then the parent runs up their to jump butt. Parents are not playing their part in raising the kids anymore. The teachers get out of college all starry eyed about how they are going to make a difference in a childs life, then reality hits when they end up somewhere like Corning.(although Corning is a world of it's own not based on reality or the rest of the world.)

I tend to agree that SOME of the teachers and the "educational establishment hierarchy" go by name only at the schools, but not all.

Also, I am not a teacher or affiliated in any way with the schools in Corning, but I think that the parents need to take a more active role here. They need to be more involved in the schools and be more involved in their childrens lives. The teachers/schools need to be more available to the parents that want to become involved. Parents are working many hours, coming home exhausted from eaking out a basic living anymore. They are tired, worn out, unhappy. The schools need to take all of that into consideration.
But if you have the child, you have an obligation whether you are worn out or not to raise that child. And that means DISCIPLINE and CONSEQUENCES for the choices they make. No one seems willing to accept the fact that all these kids here don't get any of that at home anymore. They are not taught things like respect, kindness, working hard @ a goal. They are not taught that accomplishment feels good. That if you fail, try again. They don't know what working hard means. Unless they are on a video game. They are handed keys to a car, a cell phone, money and told to behave. Sure they will.

yeah

I'm in agreement with your thesis. Except the part of no irony. I do see irony in the whole thing. But then, maybe I look for irony.

I have to agree!

As a parent of a very-problem child (wrong crowd story) in his former school, he always tried to help, even in my darkest hours. I had to work, and my kid had to cause problems, trouble and drama. Mr. Morrow did everything he could to help, and was always there, even when I couldn't be because I was too busy making a living.

So haters please roll that up and smoke it!!!

Please refer to the strand on parenting needs help with teenager.

The Corning is a world of its own. I do need advice from experienced parents and those in same shoes as me.

I'm disappointed in Morrows handleing of the harrassment on gay child at the high school. Those who berate him should be punished according to the State law. No one to answer too.
